I've never had anybody push back on me for saying either Happy Holidays or Merry Christmas. Sounds like made up culture war BS to me.

Back when was doing frontline customer service work on the phone, customers would end the call this time of year with, "Merry Christmas!"

You could hear them vibrating like this, waiting for you to respond with, "Happy Holidays!" All so they could do the, "No it's Merry Christmas, everyone is too woke etc......" spiel.
They sounded downright disappointed when you said "Merry Christmas."
