yeah they just said "you all passed" that's it. couldn't find out what i got. there's a way to find out i think. you have to be in and have to know someone that can access your files. or you can request your file or something like that.

wait i might have done that too haha.. i don't remember.
but yeah. for the interview some like khakis, or whatever. just no ripped jeans or other shitty looking things. like perhaps dark jeans and a polo tshirt will do fine man. they're not gonna judge you on how well dressed you are, just dont show up with torn jeans, and bright pink hair and peircings everywhere.
oh yeah, bring two sets of clothing. unless your interview is on a seperate day than the physical.

It varies from 3months - 6months. I had mine in about 5months and I was lucky. My friend had his in 4 months, that was insane.

so if i put you in a section of 8 soldiers, do you know how to plan, and execute attacks? plan and navigate through enemy territory, and lead assaults and section attacks? leading a convoy of vehicles and knowing what to when you get hit by an IED or coming across an obstruction? do you know how to even strip the basic c-7 assault rifle? or know how to give a lecture to a battalion of 400 men? it's serious shit man.
in my unit there's a guy that was RSM of his cadet squadron or whatever they're called. he's taking his primary leadership qualifiation, and that shit ain't easy. he's failed one or two tests already, and he's doing better than the rest of the course.
reserves is far from "cadets for adults". you can go overseas, and kill shit, and even die. it's more like "part time military". your training is the same as the regular force, just your skills are not honed to the precision of the regular force, you obviously cant dedicate everyday of your life practicing your military trade unless you're reg force.
if anything, your rank in cadets will only get you picked on during basic training, because everytime you fuck up on simple shit, they'll bitch at you for fucking up on something you should already know. on the flipside, if you're a sharp guy, you'll be a bit more prepared for basic training.

how would i go about this? | everyone in the military is a soldier first, then their trade. engineers, plummers, cooks, clerks, doctors... etc. they're all soldiers first. they all have to go through basic training etc.. Quote: Originally posted by RCJS how about... i go to the reserve once a week... is that possible? | yeah, but you still have to go away for basic training and all that. You can't just... "work" there once a week. the work you do requires you to be qualified, and you have to go away to get qualified first. Quote: Originally posted by LC21 recruiting season is here for reserves! I'm a MSE OP, ie trucker. so yeah, i duno how you'd know it was me since, you probably dont know what i look like, unless u stalked me on facebook :P
honestly, if you wanna know about the trades and what they do (within my unit), ask here. the guys giving you the tour and recruiting you have to fill trades that are low in numbers, so they'll say all these great things about it, but just ask here, and i'll tell you what actually happens. i can't do that for other units though, i don't know what they actually do.
i'd hate to see new people join and hate their job, or think its lame, and want to be something else. although you can switch trades, it's kind of a bitch process involving interviews and paper work.
another thing, i strongly discourage people from joining as officers. especiall if you're below the age of 30. hell make that 35.
reason being, most officers are older, officers don't hang out and are not allowed to hang out with the troops. the military is all about camaraderie. you're going to have 0 fun hanging out with 35-60 year olds.
another thing is, officers are supposed to be awsome right? you know in all the movies and video games, officers are supposed to be leaders and shit, know everything, and be god like. alright in reality, thats not so true, they're paper pushers, and *i didnt say this* incompetent mangers. there are a few new recruits, just because they have a degree (or are in university), joined recently as officers, alight. great. they're like 20-22 years old? officers give you a kinda instant rank. troops are supposed to respect your rank and you're supposed to be all knowledgable. yeah right, how do you expect 2-25 year veterans to respect a 21 year old newb that just joined, doesnt know jack shit about anything and thinks hes the shit. obviously it doesnt happen in reality.
you can always request transfer over as an officer after you've gotten a few years in. you'll get more respect that way.
anyways, like i said, if it weren't for the camaraderie, i woulda quit a long time ago. i go there cuz of my buddies. if i joined as an officer, i'd be an astranged invdividual, especially at my age of 24.
btw just cuz one has a degree or is getting one doesnt mean they SHOULD go officer. most troops including myself have degrees or are getting one, long gone are the days of joe schmo dumb ass highschool drop out grunt. aint the 70's no more. infact i think a lot of the troops should actually go officer, but no one wants to lose their buddies.
the military has 3 mess halls (basically places to eat/drink), junior ranks, sgt's mess, and officers mess. the three segregated "ranks" don't hang with each other. i don't know how else to emphasize this, who you work with, who your buddies are, matter A LOT.
