i was always more into marvel
not saying DC is bad or anything though

Tegra_Devil 02-07-2006 12:27 AM

marvel > dc..IMO

Dax 02-07-2006 12:32 AM

Marvel's universe makes no sense. How can (normal) people hate mutants, but love superheroes?

Tegra_Devil 02-07-2006 12:33 AM

how can DC have so little an amount of interesting characters...

Grandmaster TSE 02-07-2006 12:33 AM

both have their ups and downs

Tegra_Devil 02-07-2006 12:36 AM

i dont think i actually like 1...dc character...besides batman

DC is an old school company that is actually a conglomerate of many smaller publishing houses pulled together from as far back as 1920. Most of these characters are at least 40 years old, a time when background, motivations, gritty, edgy, and Xtreme crap weren't the norm.
Superheroes were Superheroes, and people read the weekly serials to escape into fantasy-land.

Much to DC's credit, they have (for the most part) brought these characters into the 21st century.

Identity Crisis and Infinite Crisis are two of the most interesting comic book arcs I've read, and will have serious repercussions on the DC universe.

Let's see...
OMAC project
The breaking up of the JLA
Batman spying on all superheroes
Wonder Woman killing Maxwell Lord, and the media destroying her name
Ion
Rann/Thanagar War
etc
etc...
EDIT: Shit I'm stupid! Blue Beetle was killed as well!

Grandmaster TSE 02-07-2006 12:46 AM

i think it was identity crisis, that was a good storyline

i can't remember, but someone got raped
and that always leads to some good ass kicking

Senna4ever 02-07-2006 12:48 AM

Crisis on Infinite Earths was a good read, too.

Dax 02-07-2006 12:57 AM

But we all know the best comic company ever is....http://www.imagecomics.com/
Although I think they've completely dropped the 1990's XTREME Rob Liefield / Youngbloods radical awesomeness.

This entire post was sponsored by the letter "S"...for sarcasm.
lol

Holy old school!
Although Infinite Crisis is a sequel to that, brought about by Identity Crisis.

Haha, yeah....I never did get over the death of Supergirl & Superboy.:(

both marvel and dc have good characters and bad characters. of course, ironman > batman. but that's for another thread. ;)

i wonder what would happen if marvel bought dc. i guess they'd keep both companies running as separate entities but what if they brought the two universes together. obviously, the superheroes wouldn't fight with the superheroes (it's been done before) but how would you integrate the two universes?

Ulic Qel-Droma 02-07-2006 01:44 AM

^
easy, batman, with the help of lobo and etrigan, kill off every marvel entity, and DC goes on.

Senna4ever 02-07-2006 01:55 AM

Captain Marvel defects to the Marvel side. Duh.

:p

Except they already have a Captain Marvel. I say the REAL Captain Marvel kill Marvel's Captain Marvel, because DC's Captain Marvel is far better.

But that's a tricky question. Hmmm..
Since the JLA is no more, and the X-men are basically inoperative, and the New Avengers are a pretty random assortment of heroes, I would break down each team and form them into a new mold. (X-men included. They're getting fairly boring and repetitive now. I mean, Colossus can't even stay dead.) Each team have a solid variety of strength. But I don't know. Marvel basically copied every DC character, so if the two universes merged, there would be a hell of a lot of redundancy.
There are SO many characters though, so it's tough.

seakrait 02-07-2006 02:19 AM

update: reptar to onslaught. conan o'brien to RSL. apocalypse to RVL.

that's why i ask. ;)

to make things interesting, i'd have the opposite. i'd have a brawler team, i'd have a smart team, i'd have an agile team, i'd have a fucktherules team, i'd have a hottie superheroine team, etc. and it'd be the same with the bad guys. i mean, imagine a team made of superman, captain marvel, the hulk, thor, steel, ironman, warmachine, etc. or a team of wonder woman, emma frost, psylocke, starfire, supergirl, stargirl, spider-woman, etc. ;)

let's see some fantasy teams and fantasy matchups between marvel/dc heros and marvel/dc villains!

Ulic Qel-Droma 02-07-2006 02:45 AM

how about... batman, lobo and etrigan vs marvel? hahaha... ok im going to bed, im gonna dream about pastey white skinned buff men, and bats n' demons.

amalgam universe :lol

Grandmaster TSE 02-07-2006 08:34 AM

the 2 shouldn't mix
they should just be 2 side by side universes

and some people can slide in between the 2 and there can be accidents where one would end up in the other
but overall, no major mixing and interaction of the 2

Ch28 02-07-2006 09:08 AM

I see Conan :lol
