Ya, so sad.... :( Kathleen, the manager at Reifel told me that the necropsy revealed a massive infection in the yolk sac - baby birds still have an internal yolk sac for a few days after hatching. This was not an infection from existing bacteria, but an environmental contaminant. Poor thing. |

We were all looking forward to watching you grow up. Your parents yesterday were very subdued - they miss you. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...psbf053152.jpg |

ok, new camera. 7D was a fail, worst out of the cameras i've owned for birding. not including the 5D2(not a birding camera) i had. the 1D2N,1D3,and 5D3 were betterer. (well, close with the 1D2N) i was not impressed at all with the AF tracking with the 7D. ISO topped out around 800 too, which is low-ish now days. IQ was pretty damn good other wise, but i expected more. |
found some porn on my card from last week. http://www.epicdevelopements.com/wp-...13/06/st2a.jpg http://www.epicdevelopements.com/wp-...13/06/st4a.jpg |
and, from this morning. i was just looking out my window and saw a Flicker land and it took a few moments to see what it was doing. after a light rain this morning, the bird was getting a drink from water collected in curled up leaves in the tree. i grabbed the big lens and ran out back, switched on the IS and fired away for a few shots. http://www.epicdevelopements.com/wp-...06/flick1a.jpg http://www.epicdevelopements.com/wp-...06/flick2a.jpg http://www.epicdevelopements.com/wp-...06/flick3a.jpg |
picked up the 1D4 this morning, but only had time to shoot some ducklings at a local pond. the files it produces are awesome, and happy to be using a pro body again. http://www.epicdevelopements.com/wp-...06/chick1a.jpg http://www.epicdevelopements.com/wp-...06/chick2a.jpg http://www.epicdevelopements.com/wp-...06/chick3a.jpg |
DUCKIES!!! |
so i took my new camera for a spin this morning out at Iona, and what do i see? something very unusual, a Greater Egret: http://www.epicdevelopements.com/wp-...06/egret1a.jpg i was super stoked with the AF tracking. that servo is fast and locked on to wherever i pointed it to: http://www.epicdevelopements.com/wp-.../swallow1a.jpg http://www.epicdevelopements.com/wp-...6/cormor1a.jpg A Spotted Sandpiper, my favourite of the day: http://www.epicdevelopements.com/wp-...06/shore1a.jpg i didn't see too many Yellow-Headed Blackbirds, pretty much the best i could do: http://www.epicdevelopements.com/wp-...3/06/yhbb1.jpg however, while i was concentrating on the YHBB in the north pond, i heard a sploosh behind me and an Osprey was coming right at me, and veered away. i was too close and not ready, but the 1D4 pulled through: http://www.epicdevelopements.com/wp-...06/ospreya.jpg |
sweet photos man |
Sick man! So, 1D MK4 vs. 5D MKIII vs 7D for birding? My 7D sucks at BIF, or in general sometimes on things that don't move more than 5 MPH. |
close. my 1D3 was better than the 7D too. |
1D MKVI or 5D MKIII for birding then? |
