maybe a silly question but why are you looking for a 240hp and not the 315hp?

Can't justify the cost difference.

EL-nation 04-03-2008 02:20 PM

dubzz24 02-27-2009 09:30 AM

My annual bump again! I've been scouring the buysell and craigslist and BMW forums for a few weeks now. If you guys see anything let me know! I'd also be interested in an s54 (2001-2002), and I can trade my '02 325i + cash or just buy outright.

Bump!

Hey Dubzz24,

the price drop of newer used cars, have you considered getting a 06+ M coupe. I have driven both allot and can say the Z4 based M coupe is far superior machine Vs the Z3 based coupe. Although the chassis is pretty stiff, the rear suspension on the Z3 coupe is ancient (E 30 based) and does not perform very well in mid turn bumps.

I believe the price for a 99-00 M coupe is in the $25-$30K range. I would spend an extra $10K for a 06 M Coupe. Looks kooler, handles way better, and has +70hp factory tuned HP. My 2 cents.

Thanks for the suggestion - I haven't driven a z4M yet but I might look into it. I just love the styling of the z3M coupe. I've wanted one for years now so it's hard to break that lust ;)

^ lol if i knew do you think i'd be asking?? thanks for the smart ass reply

Z3guy 03-01-2009 02:48 PM

^ it is called buying wholesale Vs retail.

besides, you were the one questioning the validity of getting a 06 M coupe for $35-$40.

check out this ad on craigslist....$42K for 38kms

http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/cto/1049816285.html

kchan 03-01-2009 03:48 PM

^
i asked bout that M coupe,
its an US import to Alberta then to B.C.
and had a minor accident, car got rear ended

couple weeks back, Weissach had a M roadster for $40k, local no accident low km (<40,000km), not the coupe but shouldnt cost that much more

gl on your search, im looking for one myself :p

Im in car sales , so i know retail and wholesale are different pricing. The reason i asked where to find one at that price is b/c thats probably black book value (i dont have time to check it out in black book yet), and not the price a dealership or person would sell it at.

By the way, ur link for $42k has an accident plus its a US import. If you can find a local one with decent mileage, plus no accidents at 35-40K, i'll be happy b/c i know of customers who want one.

akelly907 03-01-2009 07:44 PM

hey ive looked at this page maybe half a dozen times and everyone is giving you a hard time.....so im going to find you your car....im just curious as to how badly you want it because i know how to get cars but it all depends on if your willing to wait a few weeks for it...and what is your price range. cause honestly for 40,000 i can get you a maserati cambiocorsa 2004 coupe. i know this cause i just bought one.....so ya i hate it when people criticize on forums...send me a pm and i would be more than willing to help ya out man...

dubzz24 03-05-2009 06:50 PM

Alright guys. After searching for just over 3 years to the day (look at the date of the first post LoL) I'm the proud new owner of a 2001 BMW M Coupe in the rare Laguna Seca Blue colour. S54 = 315hp. :D

This thread can finally be wrapped up!

Z3guy 03-06-2009 06:10 AM

Hey Dubzz24,

great purchase man...I always loved LSB. That is one rare colour combo you got....I am pretty sure you won't bump into anyone with the same car!

btw, it is time to start modding hehehehehe.

I used to have a supercharged Z3 and this is the best mod on the E36/7 chassis

all three pieces (butt strut, sub frame connectors, and front strut)

unfortunately I think it is a 5sp manual (not a 6 speed as in E46 M3) only. Even though the E36/7 coupe is lighter, it is still slower than an E46 M3. No SMG
