Posted this in the Border Thread, but I guess it applies mainly to the people in here.

Canadians who smoke marijuana legally, or work or invest in the industry, will be barred from the U.S.: Customs and Border Protection official.

WASHINGTON—Canadians will be barred from entering the United States for smoking marijuana legally, for working in Canada’s legal marijuana industry and for investing in legal Canadian marijuana companies, a senior U.S. Customs and Border Protection official says.

^Would border guard really dig into that personal, such as what do you invest in.

Typically they ask what do you do for living, where do you work, what's company name. If you work for cannabis company, then kinda busted right there and deny entry.

DavidNguyen 09-14-2018 07:51 PM

Do they ever take your phone. Make you unlock it?

Not too sure how this will play out, as it was only announced like a day ago. Article says that they won't outright ask everyone, but they might ask the question if they have suspicions I guess.

Nabatron 09-14-2018 09:07 PM

If they actually ask that shit at the boarder fuck going across then! Not going to spend my money in the states if they want to be cunts like that!

Any gains made in TFSA is tax free regardless of how much you make, just be mindful of your contributions per year.

I've had a TFSA for about a decade and no issues. As mentioned above, just have to watch your contributions. You can go onto the CRA website and it will tell you to the penny how much you can contribute.

This is not true, it depends on how active you are with your trades also. If you are using your TFSA like a day trading account and you make extreme gains, the CRA considers this business income and can tax you on it.

DavidNguyen 09-16-2018 11:47 AM

I'm confused now lol.

I'll just be cautious

From what I recall, I tried looking this up last year and there wasn't anything specifically mentioning about gains being taxable in TFSA.

I know there were some extreme examples where some people' TFSA were over a million in market value and CRA being CRA wants a piece of that pie.

If you day trade as mentioned, probably run yourself into a risky situation. If you hold long and sell, wouldn't be too concerned.

Hopefully this will be a turn around for APH and it will climb like a mofo

Energy 09-17-2018 09:41 AM

Nabatron are you happy with your ACB now?

DavidNguyen 09-17-2018 05:13 PM

Never really liked ACB. If this deal goes through.
That will change my opinion

kr4l 09-17-2018 07:29 PM

Investing wise, acb sucks short term.

In the long run, it’s going to be a monster with them buying up everything. I’m pretty heavy in acb so I’m glad to see it finally moving after some time be stale.

I'm guessing that's information they already have and is pulled up when they run your passport. They just want to see if you're lying.

It's easy to say that you can forgo travelling to the US but think ahead 10-15 years... wife wants to go to Hawaii? Sorry... 8 year old wants to go to Disneyland? Too bad. Stag in Vegas? Forget it....

Nabatron 09-18-2018 06:37 AM

It says aurora is suspended? Anyone know why?
