not all MTR stations have those doors, just for the record

and i agree with what AzNightmare said. when the train comes i'm nowhere near the edge until it's almost stopped. accidents happen, if you're just waiting for the train why do you have to be right up against the edge?

MelonBoy 05-28-2011 12:36 AM

Is it me or has anyone else ever plan in your head while standing at the station.
If someone pushes me from behind, ill go with the momentum and jump right at the edge straight across the tracks?

lol XD or am i just retarded fcuked in the head for thinking this haha..

metal 05-28-2011 12:48 AM

and this is why Canada fails once again.. behind in all aspects of technology sad being a top rated country. And, yet we always are the last to get cell phones, internet speeds etc.. etc...

I remember some people poking fun at us during the olympics saying how old skool we were still.

I know this is half a month late, but no, not all MTR stations are walled off. For example, Tsuen Wan station is just a platform.

AFAIK all the light rail stations are also just platforms (Tin Shui Wai, Yuen Long, Tuen Mun?)

I could be wrong, but I think it's because a combination of:
a) Light Rail used to be KCR, so it's still relatively new to "MTR"
(upgrading LTR platforms might not be one of their highest priorities),
b) Relatively lower people traffic on Light Rail (compared to a lot of the other MTR Lines),
c) The speed Light Rail's train approach the station, and
d) Light Rail use a lot more frequent stops (68 stations) given the distance it travel/covers.

yeah, I think it has a lot to do with the fact that it goes hella slow and is always people operated (since they stop for traffic lights lol)

They don't publish these kind of things because it gives too many people ideas. I read some statistic that there is on average 2-3 suicides a day VIA the subway in NYC.

Leopold Stotch 06-13-2011 10:37 AM

wow, i have no recollection of posting this, or the event itself.

correct. i remember reading a few years back that suicides were never (or very very rarely, at least in western newspapers) published, because it causes some sort of a "chain effect". understandable i guess. asian newspapers publish everything though so they're exempt

BNR32_Coupe 06-13-2011 09:59 PM

took the train today passing by broadway station this morning. it was bumpier than usual, but thought nothing of it
