diamond parking ticket

okay so a few of you might remember me getting a parking ticket while going to nightmarket. yea i was stupid to not pay $4 and the fine turned out to be $60. now they sent a letter asking for $100+? if this has happened to anyone, what happens if you don't pay? i'm thinking about just paying this in case anything happens.

Shun Izaki 09-25-2006 07:52 AM

parked in front of staples. home depot is part of the night market where you had to pay for parking. next time i'll pay for parking even if it's $5. the mail they sent sounded very convincing of them being able to take action but i guess i can ignore them. thanks!

icemiko 09-25-2006 04:37 PM

hmm i parked at fs/staples before too.. and never got a ticket..

just do a search cuz i think there was a lot of other thrends on this and i think other ppl said just to don't park in their lots again or just go change your plate since it's cheaper to change your plate then pay the ticket...

i got a ticket from impark before but i called in and disputed it and they cancled it for me... hahaa

hope that helps

You should prolly ask the police forum, but I've been told by police officers that with parking tickets, they only have one year to get the money from you, and then the statue of limitations kicks in. But yeah, don't park there again without paying, cuz they'll prolly tow you.
If it happened to me, I wouldn't pay, i never pay for parking tickets.

jack_dangerous 10-19-2006 05:39 PM

PAY YOUR TICKETS!!!!

i took your ppl's advice and didn't pay... same thing happend.. they sent letters n shit asking for 100$ and that they would get collection agency after me... AND they DID. stupid ass parking ticket...i just got a letter from EXECUTIVE COLLECTIONS today ... they ask me to pay 108$ to them within 10 days "further action will be taken without notice" WTF!!! how did everyone else not pay and get away with it?? this is retarded!!!

i really don't want to pay... but should i?

b0unce. [?] 10-19-2006 08:51 PM

^ no. they probably wont do shit.
its an empty threat.. who knows..

jack_dangerous 10-19-2006 08:53 PM

"probably wont" isn't good enough... blahh... guess i'll just pay those bastards

terkan 10-19-2006 08:54 PM

Yea they'll try to send the repo man, but u can just assemble a beat down crew and take em out.

babybooda 10-23-2006 01:18 PM

if you wait too long

it will go to collections, then you're screwed.

dont pay it, and it will count as a hit on your credit score
if you don't care, then ignore the ticket

if you ever want to get a cell phone plan, video rental card, or even a bay card, then pay it.

if you were in fact in the wrong, then don't bother trying to dispute it.

if you were at staples or home depot, and bought something that night or have witnesses that can prove you were in fact parked there to do something other than night market as your primary objective, then present that in your dispute.

otherwise, it's only 100 bux. pay it and learn for next time.
impark can be really mean if they want

Almost sounds like the scare tactics of a collections agent . . . almost. If it does indeed count against your credit score, the only way it's going to affect you when you apply for credit is if you have pre-existing bad credit. You're in no way "screwed".

A couple of years ago, I was so incensed by this one parking ticket I recieved, I aboslutely refused to pay it. It went all the way to collections. They threw everything my way to intimidate me into paying; including garnishing my bank account :lol and not being able to renew my car insurance :lol x2 . Since then, I've taken out two loans, renewed my car insurance, applied for and qualified for various credit cards and raised limits on all of them without so much as a hiccup.

I'm not encouraging you to default on your parking ticket, but if you don't pay, it's not going to fuck you up for life. Additionally, you can spend half the money of the ticket, get new plates and get a clean slate with their parking lots ;). Then again, this is MY experience, so what you do is entirely up to you.

Alphamale 10-23-2006 01:46 PM

someone needs to sticky these fucking diamond/impark ticket shit. Everytime i see one its like..uh..wtf...this has been covered eleventybillionjillionzilliondillion x 5 times....fuck sakes.

jack_dangerous 10-23-2006 07:01 PM

ya fuck it i'mjust gonna pay... piece of shit parking tickets

tnkw 10-24-2006 12:04 AM

^i got a ticket from impark like... umm... 5 years ago? never paid, received 3 collecting letters, but I just ignored them. Since then, i got my TD VISA, PC Mastercard, and for some reason, even with one unpaied ticket, that are in fact in the file of a collection agency, PC kept on raising my limite =), so did TD

btw, I did get new plate since i sold my first car.

There is an easy way to get these people to stop calling.

According to the BUSINESS PRACTICES AND CONSUMER PROTECTION ACT;

(4) A collector must not continue to communicate with a debtor
(a) except in writing, if the debtor
(i) $has notified the collector to communicate in writing only, and
(ii) $has provided a mailing address at which the debtor may be contacted,

see this link: http://www.bclaws.ca/EPLibraries/bcl...eside/04002_09

Simply send the collections agency a fax stating you wish to be contacted by written correspondence ONLY and state the mailing address at which they can send mail to you. Provide your full name and be sure to clearly note what matter pertains to (i.e. parking ticket for license plate number ABC 123) sign the fax, and record the date you sent it. Keep the fax. You also need to send the same fax to the creditor (i.e. the parking lot company such as Diamond Parking).

If by chance they are calling you about a parking ticket from Diamond Parking, in the same fax, tell them you wish to dispute the ticket and all related charges in court. They wont take you to court because it's your word against theirs, they won't win. Even if they tried the cost of pursuing the matter in court far exceeds the sum they can hope to recover.

Lastly, a parking ticket and fine from a private parking lot WILL NOT and CAN NOT affect your credit rating. You did not borrow money from them and not pay it back. Parking tickets from the city or a government entity, however, is a different story.

tonyvu 07-01-2010 07:47 PM

Parking tickets from them is a joke... they called me up one time and said i owed them like $450... I just changed my plates and they never called again.

Change your license plate and you won't have to pay it. I got a ticket from Metrotown just for watching a movie. No way I'm going to pay it.
