2 Years ago I went backpacking through Europe with some buddies. Here are a few pics with a shitty digital camera I had at the time. Venice, Italy http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t...53304_6538.jpg Pompeii(Naples), Italy http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t...53260_3782.jpg Santorini , Greece http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t...25031_1834.jpg Amsterdam, Holland !??!?! http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t...24988_5565.jpg Paris, France http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t...53340_9390.jpg Luxembourg, random park. Came upon this on a trail. It's a dog on an ivy in a pod. Locals told us it was "modern art" wtf? http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t...53098_8848.jpg to be continued... |
uh dude... thats IV, not ivy. and yes, that is pretty fucking weird |
Still working on processing through the vacation and wedding photos from our recent trip to New Zealand. Here's some of what's finished so far (some have already been posted in the Daily Showcase thread). New Zealand is an extremely active area of the world in terms of geo-thermic. This is especially true in the area around Rotorua in the central part of the North Island. http://www.mithril-photography.ca/ma...+pool+1024.jpg The Champagne Pool @ the Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Park http://www.mithril-photography.ca/ma...alate+1280.jpg The Artist's Palate @ the Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Park The pohutukawa is a sub-tropical flowering tree which favours the coastal areas and can be found in most parks of the country. It flowers in mid-summer and is therefore often called the NZ Christmas Tree. http://www.mithril-photography.ca/ma...andel+1280.jpg Pohutukawa Tree on the Coromandel coast http://www.mithril-photography.ca/ma...pohutukawa.jpg Close up of a set of Pohutukawa blossoms http://gallery.mithril.ca/albums/mis...aina.sized.jpg View of Lake Okataina off the lodge deck (wedding location). http://gallery.mithril.ca/albums/misc_nz/koru.sized.jpg Closed koru from a small tree fern http://gallery.mithril.ca/albums/mis...koru.sized.jpg Partially opened koru from much larger tree fern http://www.mithril-photography.ca/ma...flat_white.jpg There is almost no drip coffee available in New Zealand with "flat whites" being the most common. Basically they are almost no-foam latte's (just a small hint on foam on the top) with double the expresso. http://www.mithril-photography.ca/ma...f-portrait.jpg Doing an arm-out self-protrait using a D200 w/grip is both awkward and heavy!! Finally a couple shots of the happy couple themselves: http://gallery.mithril.ca/albums/mis...mois.sized.jpg http://gallery.mithril.ca/albums/mis...rass.sized.jpg http://gallery.mithril.ca/albums/mis...rock.sized.jpg |

Very nice Tom, could you tell us a little more about the pic itself? in terms of how long were you there, was it really dark in the forest, was there a lot of people etc... i look at it, seems like u stood on top of the pyramid in the middle of the night by urself.... kinda scary.. |
^ The sun went down at about 7 o'clock. I was with a friend so it wasn't to scary. A security guard came up and asked us to leave because we were past park hours and it was already dark (well I think that's what he said because I spoke no word of Spanish). I wanted to stay longer, so I showed him the international sign for money :D We bargained a bit, but when we finished it cost me 15$US for another 2 hours. The moon was super bright, so no need of using the highest ISO possible. Glad I packed a flashlight with me because the jungle was pitch black. The threes were so thick the moon had a hard time lighting the way. It was beautiful though, in Central American the moon was visible through out the afternoon and absolutely dominate the entire sky by night. We stayed at a hotel right there in the Jungle. The power would go out at 9 and the candles would be lit till the morning. At night the jungle was a bit quiet, but in the morning it was a different story! I have audio recordings of howler monkeys screaming at 6 o'clock! *The computers down for another two weeks so I can't upload it right now* Anymore questions? |
