lol no kidding. google is a GREAT website.

do you think bcit would paint a front lip as well? if they can do a full car, i'm sure just a front lip wouldn't be a problem right?

they're slackers...they only get like 3 hours in the shop to work on the car.

way too long
When I was there, we had a lot more time in the shop, but still, it would take days to get something as simple as a mirror to get painted.

BCIT you don't need to buy anything.

You go there on Wed, get an estimate done, and they will set up a time etc.

You just pay for materials in the end.

Last I checked, they are still big on PPG paints, so if you don't mind that company, buy all means.

When I was going there, my friend got a shitload of bodywork done, and a complete paint job for $600.

Mind you, it took 3 months.

Only $600? at VCC they say they only charge for materials but last complete I saw in the shop was like $2000.
When i looked through the work sheet, they were charging an hourly rate(from estimated time) from body, and paint for the materials.

Nvasion 04-18-2009 11:55 AM

yep only $600. if VCC was going to charge 2k, you almost mind as well bring it to a shop and have a pro do it (nothing against VCC students or anything)

6thGear. 04-18-2009 05:38 PM

Yes, they still are big on PPG. They do mostly water-based now.
$600 is pretty good, considering how waterbase paint is pretty expensive. When I went to BCIT like 7-8 years ago, they were charging $500 for a complete paintjob.

You also have to realize its a bunch of students working on your car not pro's, which is really the main reason why it will take a while. They need directions on EVERYTHING.

Truenosan 04-18-2009 08:36 PM

yep I realize that a bunch of students will obviously take longer.

I was there about 3 years ago, before water based was introduced there.

Did you have John Sutherland as a teacher?

6thGear. 04-18-2009 10:30 PM

Yeah. I also had Frank (can't remember his last name)

I'm in the course right now, on my last 2 weeks and I'm out.
I would park by the park for free everyday. Or you can pay $4 for parking. Your choice.
Dan's the teacher for Level 1.

Nvasion 04-19-2009 07:21 PM
