so i wanna become a realestate agent anyone here know where they course is availible? also what kind of steps do i need to do to get there? or if anyone is a realtor would u be able to meet up with me for coffee or somthing and let me ask questions and such? |
theres a course available at ubc, and i think the requirements are LOW, possibly just knowing u grad from highschool will do, my friend's in it right now, and he did horrible in highschool |
every tom dick and harry is a real estate right now...courses offered at ubc its the easiest thing to become... |
It's a stay at home kinda thing. |
:werd: pass a couple of tests and you're a licensed real estate agent. I use to work for the Real Estate Board...you would be surprised as to how many dumbf*cks are handling your homes. Its easy to become agents but to be successful, the key is investing. Look at Bob Rennie.... |
If you dont know many people in the industry and dont have a large network of wealthy family and friends - its going to be tough cuz theres 10s of 1000s of realtors out there but only a small portion make the big money. On top of the real estate license look at taking real estate additional courses at bcit too. |
it is not an easy job to get into. getting the license is the easiest part. |
Like girl, I work at the REB of greater Van, and there are 8000 members (Realtors) Yeah, its a tough job. And the crazy training course called the PDP that the board host...you have come to that as well. (Say hi to me; the girl who puts out the coffee) The UBC correspondence course and BCIT's program are the ones I hear the most. Good Luck |
thanx i think i will be going to the ubc program. yes i do have a pretty larger network of ppl, and many of them have 1-3 homes. ranging from $250k condo's all the way to $900k homes. from vancouver >downtown>burnaby>coquitlam. so yes i kind of want to get into this bussiness and FAST because i will become the ONLY realtor in my network. and yes i am sure that once i become a realtor i will be there agent. so i want to get into this FAST |
I didn't know BCIT has a Real Estate course. i thought UBC was the only place to get a Real Estate license in BC. |

so i wanna become a realestate agent = I want to be broke in 3 yrs. anyway, here's my insight being a realtor. 1) you need to be in there for 3 yrs before giving up. If you can't sustain yourself for 3 yrs, you're not going to succeed 2) you need an edge, just like any joe-blow company in the world. I can come up with tons of ideas but then you'll have to pay me to tell you. read next note: 3) it's good that you have already your network of friends, it'll truly make or break you in the industry. what i do not like is when you are with your friends, they will either refer you or really don't like you and you'll lose a friend. when it comes down to is truly knowing how to manage your commission in closing your deals. 4) you need to build a great relationship with your advertising department rep at the press so you can change ur ads fast and with ease, you need a great mortgage broker that will work 24/7 just like you 5) klnow how to work the revenue canada or else you'll never win. i can write a book abot this. only 10% of the people will succeed, if you don't know that you will succeed you won't. |

JYEAAA NO. on average i see my parents (both agents) 3 hours a day. that's not even a whole day if you calculate a weeks worth! |
Does anyone have anymore input for this thread? What is a typical commission % ? |
i heard on a typical home, u make on avg about 7000. but if u introduce the buy and the seller, then ur making 7000 off each end. comes down to it, u need to get ur name out, u need associating with a good real estate company. and when ur in ur 50s, and ur well known, THEN u can go out on ur own. it comes down to building a client base, so they always come looking for you for their next home purchase, or always reconmend u to their relatives or friends. |
