every major brand has clubs at every price range.
the best advice i can offer is to try all the brands in your price range and choose from them based on comfort level and results. i would suggest going to golftown because they have the simulator. it gives you an opportunity to 'test drive' the clubs and they have a huge selection.

the closest place that i can think of is in kelowna... but university moves their range stalls onto the grass on nice days... if you're discreet about it, you can move your mat out of the way and hit from grass.

Wouldn't they be a little annoyed to find a bunch of divots there later?

Only reason I want to hit off grass is because I'm hitting it great at the range but on the course I catch a few shots fat every round. The range mats are way too forgiving in this way.

oh probably... which is why the majority of ranges provide mats.

Actually I was thinking all he needed was a poncho and big cigar....
However, if I still want to have my regular golf buddy on Saturdays, I should just refer to him as "Sharky"

Last time I was at Mikasa, their "grass" tees were mostly dirt with some very thick grass mixed in.

Too bad Savage Creek or whatever it's called doesn't have grass tees anymore... their grass was half decent when I went there a few years back.
