Not to mention the incredible amount of Housing they have built for Profit. They have sold out the institution IMO.

Yup. That was absolutely disgusting. Most people never wander into the area beyond TRIUMF and by the time people on the SW Marine Hwy saw what was happening, it was too late to protest as they had cut trees from the inside outwards. Really disgusting IMO.

Hey you know what I discovered? This might be one of the April fool's joke since it's posted on CBC on April 1st. Just a guess though, who knows?

Don't forget lawyers will eat a big chunk of the refunds. After that, it will pass on the refunds to people who opt-in the lawsuit. If you still have the same plate numbers, they might send you back the refund. IF not, it will take FOREVER for them to dig up the history of expired/invalid plate number.

But for UBC, they won't lose that $4 million refunds. They will hike the tuition fees higher to recover that $4 million or EVEN MORE!

So if this is true, can we just park for free now?

Marco911 04-02-2009 03:03 AM

Damn, hope he loses. You can pretty much ignore parking tickets at UBC because they have no means of collecting from you if you aren't a student.

Don't think so... don't tuition increases have to be approved by gov't? I don't think that would work very well...

"Why do you need this increase?"
"Well, we need to make up the $4M we had to pay back in parking fines..."
"GTFO!"

Umm, no. It was only the fines for improper parking that were ruled illegal. "The judge said that UBC retains the power to remove vehicles that are improperly parked and to recover costs incurred, but he noted that in most cases the fines are far in excess of the damage caused to UBC by the miscreant parker..."

Well well well... they can easily move numbers around.
Do you think government cares about how much students are paying?? Haha. .
Try to go to a meeting with a bunch of higher-rank government officials, it's all about how it can benefit the city's revenue.
Just like the translink tax added to our property tax. Government doesn't give a shxt about what we think. Just SLAP it on so government doesn't have to pay it.
