can't disarm my alarm

my alarm (clifford arrow 3) won't disarm. i have 2 keypads that do nothing, one is never used. the same thing happened about 2 weeks ago while i was leaving work. i caught a ride home and back to work the next day and the alarm disabled on the first try and has worked fine for daily use since and now it's acting up again. at first i thought it was the battery on the keypad since it's the same one i've been using since i got the alarm (2001ish), but the never-used one doesn't work either.

help!

low battery in your remote...try replacing it

It's a 'water resistant' remote right? No LED, if so it might be the solder point on the circuit board where the battery connections are.

No LED. the one remote is brand new. when one doesn't work, the second won't work either. i have replaced the batteries but it didn't make any difference. is there a way to reprogram the remotes?

yes but i dont remember.. :)

Check to see if the connections in the remote are loose. I have seen it happen before.

it was a problem on the one remote a year back ago or so. i had to re-solder it and it has been making good contact ever since.

ok, i'm convinced...

it's something to do with the outside temperature. it's acting up this morning and it got down to -15 last night (-7 right now at 2:30pm) and i still can't disarm. batteries are fresh and i haven't had an issue for the past 2 weeks during which i don't think the temp has gone below -5.

i knew i had posted this question already - and almost 2 years ago to the day!

i'm having the same problem again. it's definitely not caused by a faulty remote or a low battery and i'm 99% sure it's temperature related. anyone with any insight?

Time for a new alarm. You most likely have a bad solder joint on the circuit board.
You can try holding the remote to your chin (sounds funny I know) while standing on one foot and with a finger in your nose while pushing the disarm button. It uses your body as an antenna and sometimes does help. Once disarmed put it in valet mode and get it repaired or replaced
