To be fair to him the Instigators stars Matt Damon and Casey Affleck, and is directed by Doug Liman who did Edge of Tomorrow and Bourne Identity, so it can't be THAT bad. Also it's on my list to watch as well

Pretty good small budget arthouse film, Nick Cage was his crazy self, it's a decent 80/90s style serial killer film.
Man, I don't know what to say anymore, these new films just don't hit the same. They were trying to go the Silence of the Lambs route, but these writers and directors can't seem to make a good psychological serial killer film in the ways had them in the 80s and 90s. So while it was good for a modern film, it can't hold a candle to the older flicks.

I saw an ad for this on a bus stop, so it has some international marketing budget! I am curious
^whatever is streaming i watch (on flights / during workouts)... investments are low = crap movies...
even these A list cast are doing crap movies cause they lack money?
I appreciate it much more as it was filmed all in the Toronto area. Inside the arena is done elsewhree but it was still legit.
I suggest you NOT watching the previews as that's what the major 'twist' was. I did watch the previews and it STILL did the job on being on edge of my seat. They did a good job as it did NOT showcase the entire movie esp. the ending, the chase, the catch, the finale. There is one 2 second easter egg but meh.In any movie, there will always be loop holes so it was really good to see SOME being WTF but yet when the pacing is going along fast enough, you do'nt have time to process. This did the job.
I really thought it was great ride throughout despite you know what you're dealing with during the first 10 min. of the movie.
For a mystry thriller that was due to good script, this is for you. Josh Hartnett did an amazing job; he is so used to being the mr. good guy so for this to pivot and seeing him act his heart out was good. The daughter meh, the wife (Josh's) did great at the end being a nobody.
Fun fact, this was based on a true story (cop used this method) AND Saleka who plays the artist - is actually M. Night Shyamalan's daughter.
Decent watch in a theatre cause you'll enjoy the ride.
A sucker for all things Terminator not bad not bad. Interesting to see a bit of a different take on it so while very much the same premise it was slightly refreshing. It wasn't amazing by any means but still enjoyed it overall.

I thought it did a really good job on the movie; spin off or whatever you call it. Premise was dark and the setting was decently set. What I didn't enjoy was how helpless / useless / the moment when things go sour. Is this what happens when all hells break loose in life?
It's like chickens running with their heads cut off. Again, I'm giving it a bad rep. Quite and enjoyable aliens movie - the ending transformation / change of events I didn't quite like but I can't be too picky.
Guess when you use unknown actors you can surely make this film a profit.
Fede Álvarez (director and writer) did a decent job as he did Don't breathe 1 & 2 and one chainsaw movie. I haven't seen Cailee Spaeny play any movie (she did play Priscilla Presley in a 2023 movie) ; so all in all, young cast who can't act (then again, they all probably die knowing / going into a movie like this LOL).
The Roundup: Punishment
very standard cop + bad guy movie. You know Ma Dong-seok (lead actor) - famous since train to busan - will be the cop and beat the crap out of everyone.
Kim Mu-yeol - is the good looking, rock hard abs bad guy with crazy knife skills like john wick.
Nothign to rave about; just typical korean movie where a) guns are not popular (eg// like jap movies) b) typical movie ending. Boht of them were in a similar movie (in netflix - The Gangster, the Cop, the Devil - 2019) so it's funny to say, both have aged a bit.
not a bad movie, less action than john wick, less of a script, and this is their 4th installment so it's good ot see this revolves around on-line gambling story line.
The cast was solid, the story was good, but somehow there just wasn't any tension focused. I didn't feel there were any bonding experience or I guess it wasn't properly introudced in the movie.
I'm just happy to see a honger movie so I got nothign to complain. 2 outstanding actor I must say kept me watching.
Dude is 59, and I haven't seen him play a solid movie for many years. Glad his acting skills was still legit. Mr. Tao has never been an antagonist - he always plays a good guy / husband so it was good to see him act a role and carry the script well.
K-19 The Widowmaker [2002] - 6/10
Not a bad film but idk how watchable it really is these days. The story is interesting but you can learn about it much more quickly and accurately just reading a wikipedia article for a couple minutes.
The Hunt for Red October [1990] - 6/10
Worth a watch of the first couple minutes just for Sean Connerys terrible "Russian" accent but beyond that it wasn't great. Maybe I would've liked it better without Tom Clancy doing the same dumb crap with Jack Ryan being able to jump between places in just the right way to magically save everyone that happens in The Sum of All Fears because outside of that the plot was decent.
Sniper: Legacy [2014] - 4/10
Not great but I found out afterwards it's the 5th installment in a series and was direct to video. With that in mind it's pretty good for that kind of film.
Death on the Nile [2022] - 8/10
I recently read the book and it was nice to see they did a good job keeping the film quite close while working with the limitations of the length of a movie. Gal Gadot still can't act but her being Linnet made her a bit more tolerable lol.
Cutthroat Island [1995]
I just skimmed this one since it was pretty obvious right away it wasn't going to be very good. That said it was interesting to see how many things the Pirates of the Caribbean copied. Maybe they're just common pirate movie tropes but it was still funny to see them.

thought this was super legit... Hope they keep this genre up.
Blink Twice
this is the second movie Channing Tatum did a totally diff role that's not showing off his abs. Fly Me to the Moon was good and then there was Deadpool whom he spoke spanish but this one he plays a totally different genre so it was exciting to see.
So this was a bit weird, the director and co screenwriter was an actress yet she took a weird pivot on this movie. THEN I realize, Tatum + Kravitz got engaged in 2023.
BTW, this is a pysc thriller - with SO so much potential. I would say NOT to watch the trailer cause it's 100% not what you expect and has a bit of spoiler.
First of all, the movie spent solid 50% of the movie on happy go lucky premise, which was way way way too long. What's left was disecting the movie apart which doesn't do a good enough job.
This movie only had a 20M budget so they could only afford Christian Slater, Haley Joel Osment (6th sense) ; Adria Arjona (recent Hit man movie) etc.
Not sure if they wanted this movie to be a PG13 where they cut out a lot of the scenes but i wished they went all out and be x rated (amazon had to put out a sexual violance" - which there were nothing but a few snap shots.
Really wished the script a bit developed towards the end. I did like how it had to keep you guessing until the end, whish they collab with midnight shamalyana and maybe it woudl have been a huge hit.
Did NOT like Naomi Sarah Ackie in the movie; i know she was playing Whitney in 2022 movie but I couldn't connect with her acting at all. Maybe she did such a great job in Whittney houston that her playing a scary role was too much of a break for her.

Wait what Deadpool...Did you just confuse French/Creole with Spanish?
great to see these two together, but danggggg brad pitt ageddddd lots.
I do appreicate the director was also the writer cause it definitely made the flow great. Could have been a bit faster but it a fun night with the wife trying to figure out what was going on.
There are some after credits which we were great was there as it gave us the full truth.
The comedy was ok, there were moments where we thought it was like Ocean's 11, which was cute but in a way awkward cuase it's not a true comedy.
Fantastic filming of the one night in NY (entire- somehow i don't know why but at the end credits, there were BC gov't involved, i guess there were some credits being given for the final CGI?
was there great action, not really. Was there great comedy, not really. Was it a heist, con artist, meh..so i have to say it was all in the script, the pacing and a bit of mystery of how the script was going to unwind which made it decent to finish off the movie.
Do stay for the credits - not like it's epic Easter eggs, but it helped us as viewers to decipher an ending of our own.
Caught this on Disney +, which btw is just $1.99 promo for 3 months now (with ads though)
If you ever had a thing for Emma Stone and wanted to see her riding several men topless then this might be up your alley. But you'll hardly be titillated as you'll soon see why after understanding the premise of the movie. Weird AF would be two words to describe it, but it was nonetheless interesting and would warrant a re-watch if not for the...umm scenery.
