Anybody work and sell Autoplan/insurance?
 

Does anyone on RS work as an autoplan/insurance salesman or "agent"?

Meaning that you would have to at least have a license (certification) to sell general insurance for cars etc., not telemarketers or anything like that.

I was wondering what type of salary am I looking at?, commission/bonus?

is it something I should actually look into or is it like working really hard to get certified and getting paid like I would working in a grocery store? (9-10 bucks)

i work at an insurance brokerage firm and it looks like the auto agents get paid purely by commission. If you enjoy being on the road, and you're very sociable and charasmatic then an auto agent is something to look into. I'm not exactly sure what the auto agents make(i can ask on monday) but they don't look like they're starving for money. In insurance it really depends how successful you are as a sales person.

i must warn you that insurance is a very dry and sales driven industry and the turnover rate is astronomical..

As for certification, you'll need to get your CAIB. I don't see a lot of people stressin to get their CAIB but i heard it's a lot of reading and video watching.

My family has a lady that handles all our auto insurance, and she'll drive over to our place each year to do a renewals and/or answer other questions we have.
I'm looking for detailed information about how much an auto plan agent can expect to make. I'm assuming it's completely based on commission. Is it a flat rate per transaction? or a percentage of the annual cost?

edit: I tried searching and came up with about amounts between $30-100 per transaction depending on how long the person has been driving and what optional coverages they have.

Anyone have anymore information on what an entry level autoplan agent should make??

I received an offer a few weeks ago for $12/hr starting, with the chance for commissions after a probational period.

As for education i finished my CAIB 1, but have yet to do anything else. Does all this sound reasonable??

My cousin started out at $11/hr and now after about 1.5 years he makes more then double that, he is comission now and said it works out to be about 45,000+ a year, So your starting wage is reasonable. by what he tells me. I hope that helps ya!!
