Three days at the 24hr emergency vet in langley for something serious, no surgery though cost a couple thousand. Not everyone has that kind of money just lying around to cover those kind of costs, and yet they want to do anything possible for their animal. I know some of the pet insurance will also help pay for routine vet visits, teeth cleaning, vaccines, etc. |
I had a very bad experience with petcare. Tried to file a claim, they beat around the bush and delayed it constantly and at the end, denied the claim saying my dog had a pre-existing ailment. However my vet said there is no real way of finding out whether it was pre-existing or not. He said that it should be covered under insurance. Once they denied the claim, i cancelled the plan and was given a cancellation number. Fast forward few months and they claim i owe them several months of unpaid payments. Still going through that process now. They take forever to get anything done, constantly delaying and saying i have to call back or they'll call back but they never end up calling back. |
i heard that its $20 ` and its forever |

I have pet insurance right now.. but given this story, I think I'm going to cancel it. It sounds like the american health care system. |
I know people who are more than satisfied with PetCare. I started buying Vet Insurance a few months ago and only filed a claim last week. I'm waiting to see how that goes. However, my vet has told me that Vet Insurance is the harder one to deal with - PetCare is good, in her opinion. I regret not buying insurance earlier. Because illnesses build up after 6 years (that's how old my dog is) and now they have more reason to say such and such claims I file for are "pre-existing", based on previous symptoms and vet reports. With future pets, I will buy it right from the start when they are young and healthy. However, I'm still paying monthly for it because I had a recent episode where I spent $3000 on one incident in one night at the emergency hospital. Most people don't have that kind of money to shell out right from their wallets and insurance does help. |
UPDATE My vet was right. VetInsurance is DIFFICULT to deal with. They have a lot of excuses as to why they won't pay out a claim. I submitted three claims two weeks ago since buying their insurance 5 months ago. All 3 came back today...denied. All were for different "illnesses". They claim that these are all pre-existing conditions or are a continuation of an illness that occurred within the previous 18 months. None of them were "pre-existing". I'm going to speak directly with the rep who handles my files and if I'm still not satisfied with her explanations tomorrow, I will cancel ASAP. On the other hand, I know others who are very happy with PetCare. I wish I went with them instead. Because as of late, my dog has been diagnosed with liver disease, so it's not worth it for me anymore to buy with another company since they more than likely will attribute all illnesses to her liver condition, deeming them pre-existing. |
Anyone have any experience with the President's Choice brand? |
how much is petcare insurance a month>? |
just testing. my bad. |
PetCare has been good for me, I have made 4 claims in 3 years and was paid within three weeks. Fax in the form (now it can be done on line by the Vet) and the money rolls in. Only once did they not pay within three weeks as only one page of the fax went through. I got a letter stating there was a problem, missing paperwork, I re-faxed and got what was owed. |
i believe we've all discussed this topic before and alot agree its a better idea to save up $xx per month to ur own pet insurance than actually buying one. |
i use petplan insurance. i submitted a bill for $780 and got $530 back in 1.5 weeks from the time i mailed it. zero hassles. they cover 80% of the bill, minus $100 deductible. my dog was throwing up all day. even water. took her to the emergency room at the university. they kept her overnight, they did xras, several blood tests, etc. they paid us back everything they said they would. i never even made a phone call. i just sent them the bill, all the recipts, paper work, etc. zero questions asked and i got a cheque back in 10 days from the time i mailed it. |
^ thats great Anymore info? |
This is who I've been looking into for the next puppy. http://www.petsecure.com/?gclid=CMXJ...FShRagodInV9Kw They don't require adult shots, the dog has to have had puppy boosters. They are fine with raw fed, and will cover stuff from holistic vets. |

I'm with Vetinsurance and they don't cover any supplements without a DIN number, holistic or not, but I have no problems claiming for things done at holistic vet clinics...provided they are not considered "alternative treatments" such as acupuncture. |
