Where to buy Polishing Pads

Where can i shop for some polishing/compounding/finishing pads for rotary tools? I have a 6.5" makita backing plate, so i assume I'll need at least 7" pads for that plate.

Any suggestions?

I got my whole Porter cable kit with pads from Autopia but bought extra pads from Carcaresmart. Just order online and pick up from Crystal mall.

As for cleaning, I just soak them in water and it gets most of the stuff off. I use one seperate pad for carnuba wax and it's the only one that's still has residue after washing. There is a brush kit you can buy at crappy tire in the car care section, usually have 3 brushes, a brass brush, metal brush and plastic brush, I use them to take out the wax, but a finger nail or even a tooth brush could probably do the job.

PC uses 6" pad, while Makita uses a 6.5" backing plate, so at least a 7 inch. Thanks nonetheless !

I don't think they do that anymore. I checked a few weeks ago and it wasn't an option anymore. I believe they stopped doing the mailbox place pickup almost a year ago. EIither way, they ship from Richmond so it doesn't take too long to get to you. It's about $6 for shipping, although they seem to be out of stock on a lot of stuff.

I just checked their website and you're right, looks like pick up is gone. Damn, that sucks, last time I bought from them was last summer. But I guess that's not too bad. I've been to that Chinese place they use at Crystal Mall and of the 3 times I've been, they've been closed and I've had to make several trips.

www.autogeek.com has a lot more selection than the Canadian distributors, but its kinda pricey for shipping. I only make large orders from Autogeek, for stuff that I can't get from most other places.

for pads alone...just stick to eshine.ca

Essentialif 08-18-2009 04:02 PM

anybody have any cheap local lower mainland areas we can pick these pads up from? I need some 6.5" pad's in various types, two of each type.

thumper 08-18-2009 07:49 PM

you should try posting in the "general car care tech" section here on RS. maybe one of the sponsors there might know more hopefully...

ilvtofu 08-18-2009 10:21 PM

autowerkes exclusive, jeez ask the car care forum...
Although he's in maple ridge
But he'd know where to get some good ones

death_blossom 08-20-2009 12:26 AM

icanpolish.ca is an RS sponsor and they are just as good as the other locally run online sites.
