Calgary fans suck. You could hear a pin drop in that building for much of the game. Even when the Flames were up 3-1. Why so quiet?
Kev | all the corporate seats, pretty much the entire lower bowl. Did you see how many people were still sitting when it showed the crowd right after Calgary scored their first goal?

I just got back from Save-On Foods. Picked up a Canucks Fan Zone Insider card and free duffle bag. If any of you are stuck trying to activate your card on-line, the ID and password are on the back of the card. There only seems to be a single number on the back next to the words, "Membership #", but you will notice that the number is separated by a hyphen. The ID is the number before the hyphen and the password are the letters after the hyphen. Nobody at the store could figure that one out. It's not mentioned on the web site, either.
As soon as you join, you will get the $40 off coupon that can be used towards the purchase of an adult Canucks jersey. First 1000 people to activate their cards are entered into a draw for a private meet and greet with a Canucks player. 100 people, so 1 in 10 chance to win.
Exclusive invites to Canucks practices, chance to win tickets, VIP contests, events and other exclusive discounts. Thanks again, rb, for the heads up.

lol, I thought Salo's kicking would be a penalty as well. It's more of a "tripping" than using your stick to trip someone. But I saw no retaliation from the Calgary player so I thought maybe it was a legal move or something. Because most players would retaliate on dirty stuff like that.

It's not uncommon to see the players using their sticks to impede the skating motion of the other players to slow them down or put them off balance. | Kesler, Zednik, Mallarchuk. All those incidents weren't from kicking a skate. Those are all freak accidents where they're action caused their skate to fly. Such as falling down, etc.

Trust me, you're the idiot. Though it isn't legal, it's almost an accepted part of hockey just as fighting. Figure out why the Calgary Forward didn't react? Didn't retaliate?
Slewfooting, cross check/push from behind, stick to the lower back, stick to the pants, that's all not just a common phenomenon, that's a normal phenomenon. These battles in front of the net are just as much part of hockey as fighting. The Canucks know that, Calgary knows that. Every hockey player with a decent amount of IQ knows that the space in front of the net isn't a free space. If you want it, you'd have to fight for it.
Go play some hockey before you start spreading your so-called-expertise. IDIOT.

I was stoked to see Demitra that happy when we scored. The canucks finally seem to have some heart. Its been so boring the past few years. The trap style they played was brutal. It's good to see goals scored on a rush.

The world's most famous "hockey mom" can now join the ever-growing list of icons booed by Philly fans. Move over, Santa Claus and Mike Schmidt, Sarah Palin was booed tonight in front of Willow and Piper as she was introduced to drop the first puck at the Flyers' home opener against the New York Rangers.
Despite pleas from the scoreboard at the Wachovia Center, which read "Flyers fans, show Philadelphia's class and welcome America's No. 1 hockey mom, Sarah Palin," ABC News' Jake Tapper reports that the booing was so prevalent that the music had to be cranked up to "deafening" levels in order to compete with the fans from the city of Brotherly Love.
Although Pennsylvania is often considered a swing state, the jeering is easily heard in the video above, and one can clearly see a few Obama/Biden signs in the stands.
The Flyers not only invited Palin to drop the puck, they had created a contest to find "the ultimate hockey mom" to accompany the GOP vice presidential nominee onto the ice. Earlier, the Flyers' founder, Ed Snider, expressed how excited he was that Palin was going to attend the game:
"Because of the tremendous amount of publicity she has brought to our sport, we invited the most popular hockey mom in North America to our home opener to help us get our season started," said Snider, the Comcast-Spectacor chairman who founded the Flyers in 1967. "We are very excited she has accepted our offer and we are very proud of the publicity she is generating for hockey moms and the sport of hockey." - NHL.com
This morning, The Times' top blog, Top of the Ticket, helped celebrate the NHL's opening weekend by pointing out that interest in hockey is increasing among young people, particularly girls. About 57,000 young females signed up to play hockey, according to USA Hockey, Andrew Malcolm pointed out.

By loudly booing Palin Philadelphia did indeed show class. Palin is completely and utterly unfit to be Vice President or President. Good show.

I find myself posting a lot in this thread since the pre-season/season started. I stopped posting in here last year because it was so negative. Nobody could post an opinion in here without being called a fucking moron, or you're on crack, or learn about hockey before posting, or you obviously haven't laced up or played in your life.
In the past little while, I've seen more and more people post stuff in here that didn't before. That's a good thing, right? If someone screws up, so what? Correct them and do it in a nice way. Hard to do and I'm guilty of being an asshole, too. Why so serious?
Go Canucks Go!!

IDIOT. | i was referring to bettmen as the idiot and was in agreement with you. way to put your foot in your mouth. Quote:

She makes hockey moms around the world seem stupid. Guns a blazing, redneck, ignorant, bitches. Not the kind of person you want associated with hockey. I gotta admit, though, I find her kind of attractive..... in a weird and kinky way. The librarian type. I can't believe I said that.
Anyway, Fox apparently blocked out most of the booing somehow. It must have been pretty bad live. I feel sorry for her kids who had to go through that....... what do you guys think of her daughter? Not the little one, you pedobears. LOL. The oldest.

Called selective hearing 101. The more they boo, the more you get excited. If her running mate gets elected, she's pretty much set for life. Even if the guy croaks, I don't think others around her would let her make any big decisions. I would like to see this happen. See if there are any checks or balances in the system. OK, maybe not. She could start a war and get all of us wiped off the face of this planet.
Back to hockey........ I can't wait to "hear" tomorrow night's game.

Are we going to crack down on falling down too | I was trying to make a point that the player's skates are razor sharp and any kicking is a bad idea.
I highly doubt Camallari was trying to round house kick Kesler in the head.
