Probably coked to the gills. | Apparently what happened was that him and teammate Jaromir Jagr collided accidentally, it is believed Jagr's elbow hit Cherepanov's chest in between heart beats. It is believed that Cherepanov most likely passed away from commotio cordis. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commotio_cordis
Something similar almost happened to Pronger a few years ago when he played for the Blues, he got hit in the chest by the puck in a game against the Red Wings. http://articles.latimes.com/1998/may/11/sports/sp-48660
