i'm pretty sure you need a class 6 to carry a passenger but i could be wrong. most of these 50cc scoots are built for one person anyway. overloading the suspension and overworking the motor would not be good... nor fast.

oh and hotbaby, i'm thinking about getting a scoot too. or conning the wife to get me one. been lusting after a ruckus but after riding the jazz, i like the whole underseat storage thing that the ruckus lacks.

scheng924 06-27-2008 12:04 AM

damn it mike.. i want one too now...
hey jer.. group buy? lol

bcrdukes 06-27-2008 12:26 AM

On scooters like the Yamaha Vino, even with a 49cc, say if you had a smaller lady friend, she can easily sit in the back with lots of room. I've done it before and yes, it is illegal. :p I'm sure that there are other scooters like the Italian scooters but they lack the lusture and beauty they once had so I don't pay attention to them anymore.

The Ruckuss is neat however, after sitting on one, I didn't quite like the space and the seating arrangement. Lacks a bit of character too. I think Carter Honda may be having a sale on the 2007 Honda Jazz right now!

Dude I had my doubts about you being fucked in the head (READ: All those weird as threads in the relationship forum) but you have now eased my mind. You truly are twisted. Twisted!

Congrats on the new ride and killer deal. I can definitely see the benefit of a scooter. I've thought about picking one up a couple times. I haven't, though, for all the same reasons I don't drive a Miata right now.

bcrdukes 06-27-2008 07:08 AM

^
That's too bad because despite their social and homolicious connotations, they're a lot of fun. :)

impactX 06-27-2008 07:19 AM

until you lose your chin with that helmet, they are!

me too hahaha...hot car

but sweet pics of the scooter too :D if I could get away with it I'd so get one :D

Leopold Stotch 06-27-2008 10:04 AM

I just remembered why i also didn't want a scooter. because i was looking at a 250R and insurance for that is like 1000 a year. lol so i was thinking it's proably more worth it than a scooter.

Hater! It really doesn't matter wtf ppl think about what you drive/ride due to the bullshit stereotypes that follow it. Just remember most people are fucking morons, for example, ppl who care enough for what other ppl think about miniscule bullshit like what you drive/ride.

I care about what I drive. If the Miata didn't come exclusively in feminine colours, I'd be more interested. But the vast majority of them are baby blue, or a really bad red.

Yeah, they are... only a few left. $1999 for it, which is like $700 off regular price or something. Still looking at a bit over $2900 after all fees and taxes.

I know, because... my GF just picked one up today. :lol

When she needs to borrow my car and I need to get somewhere, this is what I'll be rolling on:

Wanna race? :haha:

Holy... it's really $2900 after fees and taxes? What kind of fees?
I got mine 2005 Jazz from Craiglist for $1800 with 80km on it. The only thing is I need to change the battery.

I thought $1999 at Carter Honda is good deal, but after you said $2900 after everything.. i think i got a better deal.

bcrdukes 06-27-2008 09:25 PM

There's a huge difference of pricing between new and used. Never again will I ever buy new :p

I got a similar helmet too (pics to follow tomorrow). I don't think you expect yourself to fall over or something (at least not frequently)..

Beside, you get injured anyways if you get hit ...

You should say that comment to those who rides a Harley Davidson. They will lose their entire FACE instead of just chin.

bcrdukes 06-27-2008 09:58 PM

impactX is just lacking the attention he normally gets so just let him be and nevermind him. :p

McDick 06-28-2008 03:12 AM

but anyways...
REALLY NICE ride (especially with the white side panels) and pictures too!

Bonka 06-28-2008 11:24 AM

I'm interested in getting a scooter too. Any of you owners here know any really good scooter message boards? I want to do some research.

Shead 06-28-2008 12:05 PM

There's Urban Scootin' but they're not a local forum. There's also a local forum, I can't remember the name, something like Vancouver Scooters or something but the admin is a total Nazi and his forum sucks. Your best bet is to post here. There are some knowledgeable scooter owners here on RS. NiteRaven comes to mind. :)

seakrait 06-30-2008 01:06 AM

if you visit www.totalruckus.com, there's a vancouver thread in the meet & ride section... they go on rides in and about the city and i'm sure they wouldn't be averse to other scoots joining in. of course, www.totalruckus.com has mostly to do with the honda ruckus (both kinds), they have a forum section for other scoots too. and they're pretty friendly.

ps: for an interesting (but long) read, search for "wan" on the site. it's about a korean guy who went on a cross-country ride (literally across the continental USA) visiting online friends all over the states...

You'll need a Class 5 minimum to operate a 49cc gas-powered scooter.
