Shaw Closest retailer?

So I've been experiencing problems with Shaw for the past month, well, for quite a while.
And I believe it has to do with the Moto Shaw modem.
I say this because the old terayon modem has absolutely no problems whatsoever.
It cannot be due to my router* because no lights are off and I switched from a crappy router to a wrt54gl.
This could be a flakey modem, I don't know.

The Shaw retailer store near Metro got closed down.
Is there another one other than West Cordova downtown?
I also remember the lady said modems have a 5yr warranty, I thought it was free to exchange whenever...

There is one in North Vancouver. I think it's on pemberton ave.

call the tech line and complain
they will send someone over to help you...instead of you driving to them

rainbow_star 07-25-2008 12:22 PM

I think you have to call the tech line and complain first, otherwise they will not exchange it for you. Well, at least that was what I did. :D

always complain and try to get something out of it for free lol

ive cancelled with them, where do i go to return modem/stuff from SHAW??

we just showed up one day cause ours was messed up, told them we wanted a new one and the girl just took it and handed us a new one, didn't even ask our account name or anything. this was a few years ago tho.

There is no point in contacting tech support.. Just go to the store and ask to replace with a newer model... They will only ask for information before giving you a new one.... Ive had customers that have had internet problems that lead to the old model modems and we just tell them to go to shaw and exchange no problems.. Since shaw has been expanding and changing. Ive noticed that alot of the older modems sometimes dont work to their full potential and need to get replaced.... Shaw doesnt metion this becuase it costs them money to exchange the modem.. But you are free to any time./.

if you're using the motorola modem, then it's best to just contact technical support to have them run a few tests. if it doesn't work out, they'll book a technician to come out and inspect the modem itself

if you bring it into retail without contacting technical support first, they may not swap the modem

i believe way2quik is already using a motorola modem

Preemo 08-31-2009 04:36 PM

I had an issue with my Shaw modem and went to the Surrey location and they just gave me a new one. Tech support told me to do all sorts of shit, total waste of my time.

Here is a post from my Tier 2 tech..

" OLD SHAW CABLE MODEMS – We have discovered that Shaw has upgraded their Internet cable infrastructure over the last 12 months or so. We have also discovered that their older modems (approx one to two years or older) do not realize the performance gains and in some cases customers have experienced poorer performance. We have seen performance improvements of up to 5-10 times after installing a new modem. Needless to say, Shaw are not being proactive about this as this costs them on modem replacement units. In each of our customer examples Shaw replaced their older modem with a new one at no charge through a Shaw store. Let us know if you have any questions."

MikeyStyle 09-01-2009 04:42 PM

shaw is trying to switch everyone from a terayon modem to a motorola modem, but if you already have a motorola modem, then there's no need to switch unless the modem itself is defective

did you get an e-mail about it or was it posted in the forum for shaw?
