I cross the border quite a lot, planning to get a NEXUS pass soon actually. PASSPORTS FOR LAND/AIR/SEA TRAVEL INTO THE UNITED STATES IS REQUIRED IF YOU DON'T HAVE A NEXUS PASS (remember the flood of people getting passports in December 2008? - that was the reason) Burnt CD's and such - I never had a problem, mine were all just mix CDs from various artists, if anything I could just say my songs were bought off iTunes. - but I doubt they would really care unless you have a box of them. I only have the 6 in my CD changer + another 6 or so lying in the glove compartment. My iPods, laptops and misc. electronics have never been checked. The only one time my electronics were checked was when I carried my PSP with me when it was first released in Japan, I was pulled in as part of a routine check going down to the states, where the border guard asked me to turn it on just to make sure it's what it appears to be (and no a prohibited item hidden inside) hope it helps! |
i too cross the boarder a lot seattle premium outlets is totally over rated and not worth it if your a girl or your bringing a girl go to alderwood mall in lynwood and northgate mall in northgate, they aren't outlets but they have stores that we don't have that are super cheap, cheaper then the outlets and good quality too im actually heading over to portland next weekend haha got some really good suggestions from this thread on what to do! i think i'll check out that outlet 30 mins after portland |

Also, take note that this thread was started nearly TWO years ago! |
everyone in the car needs nexus, my gf's family asked me to get it since they were applying for it, last week we went on canada day, thinking because we got nexus it would be quick, we get to the border and my gf remembers it is in her other wallet, the regular line is 3hrs long, we had time to go back and get the card and the nexus lane took about 5 min so if u go down alot it is very handy to get especially since it is only 50$ for 5 years. |
just relax and have fun! Border guards could care less about your copied stuff... $10 says they have pirated music or movies as well! To be honest, I have not met a single person my age and under who doesn't have at least one pirated song or movie. Let's not even get started with programs! |
And if you go down, avoid the southbound Peace Arch crossing. I don't know if construction is done or not, but the damn crossing is reduced down to basically 3 booths (2 regular, 1 NEXUS) and 2 lanes. When I was down there about 2-3 weeks ago, NEXUS took me about 30 minutes on a Saturday morning (around 11am) And to add to the comments about everyone needing NEXUS in the vehicle - yes - every single passenger requires NEXUS to be able to use the NEXUS crossing. |
