Richmond- Russ Baker way Northbound carpool lane?
 

Hi guys, i was driving on Russ Baker heading onto Arthur Laing over the weekend. Noticed the repaving around the BCIT is done and the inside lane is now a Carpool lane. The car pool actually starts as soon as you merge onto Russ Baker from Gilbert.

Anyone else travel on there this morning yet? I took a day off so I didn't see the havoc. I don't think the signs are up yet, but the lane is already painted with the car-pool diamond symbol. Wonder if there are lots of driver confusion.

Hmm, I guess I'll check it out for fun later this week lol. Odd.....

When i was there today there were still city pickups on it. Still blocked off but it was maybe for today.

There was also a pretty bad accident there this afternoon. At around 11:45ish, at the intersection of russ baker and miller road i think. There was a 4x4 on its side and a sedan up on the curb.

i saw it too. I think it was a 4runner up on the tow truck, and then a really badly backdoor side damage on a ruby red Bimmer X3.

I think it's a bad design/planning overall. The city thinks it will speed up the buses, but most likely buses will be backed up by car merging onto Russ Baker in order to avoid HOV ticket.
It recalled memories of City of Richmond build 2 lanes for 98 B-line in the middle of #3 Road few years back. City of Richmond's planning department is a JOKE!

Oh gawd, that was the biggest waste of time & money ever. How much time did it save? How often was it actually used? I remember seeing c-lais driving down that lane too.

But City of Richmond has money, and money is made to be spent...

Now that all the Richmond to Downtown buses have been discontinued, do you think this bus only lane is still in effect starting Sept 8? I believe only 491,496 uses this lane.

i don't think the B-line is taken out.

98 B Line is gone, yes.

I can imagine how crowded the Canada line will be with the elimination of all the 4xx buses. Those buses were already crowded during rush hours and to now cram them all into the 2 car Canada line will be havoc. 98B, 491,492,496,488?, all combined into one train.

taking out thoese busses was a stupid idea! instead of a 20 min buss ride to school i get to spend 50 minutes getting to school now.

I miss the 98 :(

Hmm just drove there today, didn't even notice there was a carpool lane, Always speed down the fast lane, although I don't drive richmond during rush hour usually
