deals on motorcycle oil?

where do you get your oil from? and how much a Litre?
any goood deals out there now?
need to get a few L's before letting the bike sit.

is it true that old oil has corrosive carbon in it, that damages the bearings in the bike?

RRxtar 10-11-2008 09:38 AM

Amsoil from Canadian tire. about $12/quart.

slammer111 04-07-2009 09:01 PM

Motul, about $11/L. Prices are pretty much the same everywhere.

Noizz 04-08-2009 11:17 PM

I order from directlineparts.com

I use HP4S, Honda's own fully synthetic performance oil. Ordered from http://www.directlineparts.com/produ...pid=6791&str=9 in a case of 12. Shipped to TSB to pick it up. Works out to be $10/L compared to the $18/L it was at Honda Centre on 1st ave.

I get my filters there too 3 for $28! OEM!

akira112 04-09-2009 07:40 AM

Shell rotella-t from walmart across the border!

RRxtar 04-10-2009 09:02 AM

holy mother fucker! amsoil shot up from $12/quart to $19/quart from canadian tire over the winter.

looks like its time to sign up as an authorized dealer to get my costs down :D

Old oil gets acidic or something and eats away at certain parts of the engine yes.

just put in cheaper oil but change it frequently. I do this for my track bikes and never have any issues

TheSalesman 04-13-2009 01:58 PM

i did an oil change on my bike before i stored it in october. Gonna have it back on the road in may. Do I need an oil change? I just used the cdn tire castrol oil. bike only has 1k on it.

I definitely agree with this. Most track bikes should get an oil change every 1 or 2 trackdays. This could get very very expensive if you use the good stuff all the time (plus cost of filters), therefore using the general dino oil is fine since you change it so often.

Its one of the other, if you street/track maybe 2-3 times a season then I would use syn and change oil every season. If you only track your bike, or you like changing your oil alot, then using dino is fine.

I'm sure its fine. I did the same.

RRxtar 04-15-2009 05:05 PM

yes, absolutely do an oil change if the oil thats in there has been in there since october.

and the bike only has 1000kms on it? definitly do an oil change.

when i bought my bike i did an oil change at 500, 1000, 1500, 2500, 5000kms then regular intervals after that. next bike i will actually do it at 100 and 250kms as well. there was a ton of metal flake in the oil from the break in period until about 2500kms. also, a magnetic drain plug is a good idea too.

TheSalesman 04-15-2009 07:05 PM

did the oil change @ 1000km and its been sitting since.

I think he already changed it before he stored it. So he shouldn't need to again.

Ya, saw that they started carrying it. But prices are all jacked up.
Used to be $15 at US walmart, $20 now.
It's 35 tax in here, almost twice the price!

racerman88 04-23-2009 09:43 PM

I just bought 4L of full synthetic oil and an oil filter for $55 tax in at Burnaby Kawasaki

jque11 05-07-2009 02:56 PM

^ me too. just recently. But I bought the 4L motul 5100 semi for just under $40. Altho the cheapest around so far (from my own research of course), Others are not too far away... at $42-43.

racerman88, looks like u bought a full synthetic with a generic brand filter? cuz the kawi filters alone are 20 bucks. unless u got a good deal.

racerman88 05-10-2009 08:30 AM

can't remember what filter it was. Got them both from BK

Puck Luck 05-23-2009 06:31 PM

KMS tools in coquitlam carries a fairly large line up Amsoil products. 10w40 motorcylce oil is 14.99 per liter.
