Study, close to Richmond...

I searched and read all the threads on the 'place to study' topic
I need one where I don't have to buy a coffee to be able to stay and is open until at least 12am, doesn't seem like there's such a place.

m4k4v4li 10-21-2008 07:53 PM

tim hortons
they dont force u to buy shit do they...

ddr 10-21-2008 08:37 PM

actually in the other thread they said something even if you buy coffee they drive you out in 30 minutes

Ikkaku 10-21-2008 11:56 PM

Yeah, these days Tim Horton employees usually don't allow people to stay there to study... which really sucks.

Your profile says you live in Richmond.. What's stopping you from studying there?

It's kind personal anyways my step dad is really loud at home, verbally/tv/jukebox, and my ears can't classify that as ambient noise

I've been going to a friend's everyday for the past month but it's more troublesome and I don't really want to bother him that much, maybe if i find a good place I can do half/half 'cause I don't want to waste money on drinks everyday as well

muteki 10-22-2008 03:11 PM

Estea?
I think you could just buy 1 drink and stay there forever, it's quite deserted on the weekdays so it's not too loud.
Me and the bf go there to study sometimes.

there is a new place near cambie and garden city called bean around the world

that place is brand new, nice, smells good, and is clean and is open 24/7

it's right across the cambie street from pearl castle (and that whole outer mall)

crazyazn 10-22-2008 08:21 PM

^been there...good environment

jpoon 10-23-2008 09:26 PM

Sandman 11-03-2008 10:31 PM

studied at bean around the world the other day...

really liked it, nice staff too and good atmosphere and stayed there for quite a while. Lovin' the 24 hr.

I still don't understand the appeal of working or studying at a coffee shop...

libraries work just fine.

bsftong 11-04-2008 02:16 PM

Kind of unorthodox, but the airport provides free wifi, and is opened 24/7 =D

azn_boix 11-04-2008 04:12 PM

goin to check bean around the world next week :)

Wingman 11-04-2008 04:13 PM

^i thought you have to pay to use wifi at the airport

cctw 11-06-2008 01:02 AM

^no..if you have your own laptop, wifi is free. you only pay if you use their computers.

does bean around the world have wifi?

Wingman 11-06-2008 08:18 AM

^ yes it does.

and isn't parking really $$ at the airport?

bsftong 11-06-2008 11:40 AM

Wingman: Parking at YVR isn't considered cheap, but if OP really wanted to, he could bus there, plus its so dead at night time, less distractions =) Just bring a backpack, if security asks you, tell them you're waiting for a flight! lol

Or go with a buddy who works at the airport and has employee parking =)

urban.boi 11-16-2008 04:32 PM

^ study at Beans around the world the other day great place to study!
but i usually do my studying in the airport since I work in the airport. Study before shift starts or study after shift ends.

m4k4v4li 04-09-2009 01:10 AM

im prob gonna hit the airport since theres a food court

i went to bean around the world today, it was chill but they close at 2am? i thought its open 24hr? and there was only one staff memeber working
