Subaru Enthusiast please help: where is a good subaru shop in Lower Mainland? I am about to buy a used 2004 subaru forester XS , 2.5 NON turbo engine , 5 speed manual it has high mileage, now I would like a quote from a car shop how much would it be to rebuilt the engine / buy used engine and swap it in? any subaru enthusiast here can tell me where to go for this type of service that would be great. Thanks also is there a local subaru forum? Nasioc does not seem to have a local division... |
Do, they do have regional on nasioc http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=30 btw try contact ronald, he has a good mechanic in North Van, he used him for his Sti and wrx |

Rocket rally is where we as a subaru dealership send any tricky or custom work to be done. its worth the drive out there!!! |
thanks for the info guys any one have replaced their subaru engine in the past (some one here must have)? how much is it roughly? is it easy to source used forester engine ? insomniacRA: ronald online most of the time, hopefully my post catch his eyes and response here, if not I make sure I message him, thanks dude |
rocket rally is nice but pricey its not hard to find a forester engine you can even swap an STI engine in |
me me with more details on your situation. i have a private subaru mechanic i'm going to ask for you... couldn't hurt to ask. the only other place i can think of is tekam in bby... or kon's in vancouver? |
Any chance you wanna sell the shell? |
bump for new infos? "where is a good shop for subarus in GVRD?" what we have learned from this thread, rocket rally is good(even better being a north van person myself) but is thought of as being expensive. there is a ronald on this forum who deals with subs, anyone else have any idea of where to take a subaru in vancouver? |
Rocket Rally is expensive because your getting experience through Patrick Richard. In case you don't know who he is, he's a Canadian National Rally car champion. I'm not sure exactly how much work he does, but he does work on customer's cars. He's very informative and he definitely knows what he's talking about. If your gonna be doing any engine work, as in mods, tuning, whatever, he's the guy to go to. But if your looking to drop in another 2.5L NON-turbo engine, honestly, most mechanic shops/dealership can do it for you. |
That's good for the OP's original question, and to elaborate, I personally am interested in finding a shop in teh GVRD that is competant with FI on subarus more specifically the ins and outs of STi's. thx in advance |

Don't cheap out and bring your car to another place just because you save a few pennies. Go to RR and do it right the first time and save yourself the headaches. |
local mechanic for regular maintenance would be Kons Auto on venables and Clark Specializes in Volvos and Subarus |
