just don't shift during turns. otherwise it's alllll gooooood. you should be able to launch on hills or else stick with your WoW and stay home.

I went on my road test with my lowered DC2 with uber loud exhaust and it was fine... The instructor was pretty ticked off on how slow I go on bumpy roads and speedbumps though.

I have my class 5 test on Monday, should be fun, any recommendation?

Adsdeman 11-06-2008 11:20 AM

id just pay for an hour or two with an instructor and take the test in his car its alot harder to fail that way.

Ikkaku 11-06-2008 11:36 AM

class 5, just read over the icbc book to see what you are doing differently, and try to adjust your driving habits. Personally, I did that about 4 days in advance, and I was driving according to the book for the rest of the time, until my class 5. I passed, although I could've failed because I actually didn't notice one 40km/h or whatever sign that was on the ground. The examiner was nice to let me pass, because I was decent for everything else.

RenoMan 11-06-2008 11:37 AM

i need an auto car for trrw, any intructors i can pay and use there cars ...numbers?

Edit: i just found a place already.gonna takea hr course and then go for it

Taking a road test in a car with a standard transmission isn't bad. My tester verified that you're allowed to shift gears while taking turns if it's a bigger intersection. Mine was also lowered to the point where it would scrape going over pretty much anything bigger than a pebble. What they're looking for is that you're able to follow the rules of the road more than anything else. And if you're dealing with hills, you can also use the handbrake trick.

But if you're looking for an auto, just call up Young Drivers, pay for an hour or two and they'll let you take one of their cars for the test.

I don't know the rules anymore so...do you HAVE to take your own car for the road test, can't you just take the instructor's car (probably a toyota corolla) instead?

Nvasion 01-26-2009 09:09 AM

when i do mine(soon?) im going to take my dads 91 civic:)

Culture_Vulture 01-26-2009 11:43 AM

heh, it's supposed to snow tomorrow too.

kc1337 01-26-2009 11:44 AM

Fucking piece of cake, did mine in Coquitlam with hills and shit in a standard car, passed with 0 deductions.

gars 01-26-2009 02:49 PM

when i did my class 7, i took my instructor's car for the test. but i had enough confidence that i took the test in my EL, which was a 5spd, and had no problems whatsoever. mind you, it had zero mods on it tho.

only thing my tester didn't like was a) going 60 km/h in 5th gear - he said i should've stayed in 4th gear. i was just used to going 70 or 80 through that area. and b) going down a small street, there was a stop sign near the end, and i still shifted from 2nd to 3rd. i automatically shift at certain rpm's, and he said that because i knew i was going to stop soon, i should've stayed in 2nd gear, which may or may not make any sense...

definitely no coasting in neutral, you can apparently put the car in neutral (clutch out), if you're stopped and have the parking brake up, but i didn't test that theory. i think i heel-toed downshifted once, but was too nervous to do it again. wasn't sure if he noticed.

class 5 is easier than class 7. don't worry about it
