Crap, I didn't know about this.

I literally just came back from lordco after buying a couple things too.

Not much.....use the City of Vancouver employee account instead. The BCIT one is pretty good too if you don't look like a city worker.

I sold parts for 2 years at lordco and the BCIT discount is the same as the VCC and the City of Vancouver discount
trust me they all look good on paper but there only 5% less than if you just walked in and didnt say a word
just ask for a cash sale at level 7 and if they ask why say your buddy works at another lordco

What does this mean? 50%off? I get 30% with BCIT..

iam_dan 11-28-2008 12:13 AM

VCC and BCIT discounts at lordco are 30% off.
ive forgotten how much it is discounted at napa though.

DC5-S 11-28-2008 12:58 AM

what is the account number for the BCIT or VCC one

saiko 11-28-2008 08:53 AM

The Lordco discounts are rigged.. well, setup appropriately..

Say an item is worth $10 regular price. No discounts.
When you submit an account number to receive a discount, they will show an inflated list price, then offer discount on that. So yeah, like one of the posters said, it turns out to be actually 5% or so off regular price.

The best discounts are from mechanics who are regulars. My uncle gets insane discounts.

bumping this old thread because I didn't want to start a new one.

I'm looking to buy something from Lordco but can anyone shed some light on the BCIT or VCC account number?

I'd use the RS.net account as a last resort I guess if it's really just 5% off as someone said earlier.

Just say you are a student at BCIT, most counter guys won't care and just give you the discount (if you are polite and nice, they usually give you a better discount than the BCIT student discount). If you come across a dick that won't, and insists on seeing your student id, just come back later and see a different counter guy.

I just go make myself some friends at Lordco.

is there really a discount or is the price they tell you first is the inflated price and when you tell em you have so and so account then they give you the regular price everyone should be paying making it look like your getting a discount.

posting someone else's account on a public place is a good way of killing it's programed lines. i've seen this on so many cash accounts that are addressed from abby/mission/van/delta who had a fairly decent set-up. once word gets out and people from all over the GVRD uses it and obviously just got it from someone, it's price levels are adjusted accordingly. i'm not talking about city discounts or bcit. i'm talking about personal accounts. majority of those have a address and are regularly checked on. mainly for how much they buy and if they deserve the pricing that they are set at.

here is a tip to get a good price at any place. doesn't matter if it was lordco, napa, VAP, etc. when you walk in and ask for help, instead of demanding a discount why not try to be nice to the person helping you? it should be a simple idea but you'll be surprised how many people can't seem to grasp that concept. even if you give some account that gets you a good deal on parts. if you're acting like a tool and demand for a discount what do you think is stopping that person from changing the price back up even though the account is set up on that line?

it's not that complicated.

You are almost guaranteed a discount if you are nice to the parts guy at Lordco. Most parts guys there don't care about giving discounts because they don't make any commission.
