wheni was a kid, jager bombs, irish car bomb are awesome (uses guinness).
grey goose is my choice however patron is by far the best vodka i can think of. It's super expensive but it's just so much better in quality.

beer. I"m a fan of strong bow on tap.

fail.

Which places are you talking about? Restaurants or resorts? I went to one of the finest 5 star resorts in Cancun in September and Patron was extra $. Though Patron is a bit cheaper in Mexico, it is definitely not thrown into some "house tequila" drink list..

Hondaracer 12-11-2008 05:22 PM

to add to that guys fail.. is strongbow not a cider?

btw Patron although more expensive then quervo etc. is still a long ways off from quality tequila

for me I really enjoy blends such as blue label etc. also cognac from time to time after dinner with deserts are probably my favorite time for quality drinks

If you like those try: 1 shot vodka, then half cran (or 3/4), half smirnoff vodka mix (or 1/4) for at home drinking. It's a nice twist on a vodka cran...

It's hard to beat a nice scotch, and some of the rules one should observe:

Some people like to drink whisky, not necessarily "nosing and tasting" it. For drinking, nothing beats ice. As it melts, it does bring out more flavours, as well as making it more refreshing to drink.

misteranswer 12-15-2008 02:21 AM

Port Wine and Innis & Gunn

raygunpk 12-15-2008 05:57 AM

Kahlua + milk
But I think you would get a stomach ache if you mixed it with other drinks.

Agree that ice will make the whisky more refreshing, but that's it.

Adding ice simply numbs your ability to taste. The colder the drink is, the less you can taste it.

As the ice melts, it also dilutes the scotch.

To bring out more flavours, one should add a splash of water (at room temperature). If you go to a high end hotel restaurant and order a nice scotch, they never ask whether you want it on the rocks. Just like they never ask if you want your red wine with ice.

They simply serve the scotch with some water on the side.

That being said, adding ice will be acceptable if you are drinking cheaper whisky such as red label or Canadian, to mask the less impressive taste.

Often people add soda water too.

My absolute favourite drink of all time - caesars. If I'm simply looking to get drunk, I've found that rum and iced tea goes together very smoothly.

Adsdeman 12-15-2008 03:43 PM

patron, ceasars x2

superdanish 12-15-2008 08:32 PM

ceasars mmmm.

kokanee_vtec 12-15-2008 08:41 PM

beer

So you're saying that adding water enhances the taste, then you say it masks the taste... You're a pro :lol
