Cancelling Insurance

stupid question, but thought i'd try here anyways:

tomorrow my bike insurance comes up to three months, since thats the minimum amount of time you have to pay for insurance.
its only insured for four, but i'm not riding it anymore.
i know there is a penalty for cancelling the insurance, so is there no point in cancelling? i am paying something like $89/month.

THANKS.

I dont think I got charged for cancelling the insurance, in fact, I got a refund for that month. I think the charge comes when you restart your insurance next year.
I dont know how much storage insurance is, but your monthly insurance is pretty cheap!

The fee is like $30 to cancel insurance. However, the fee will be waived if you decide to get storage insurance.

^ Yup. Since you aren't riding anymore, do a number crunch at Autoplan and see if it's cheaper to transfer to Storage (buy the minimum amount unless you want to insure it until next season). Transferring to Storage waives the plate fee, since you are keeping your plate. :)

when you cancel your insurance they take the plate back. but yes, getting storage insurance will waive your cancellation fee

you have to return the plate when you get storage insurance as well.

^ Oops you're right, my bad. I didn't bother putting storage on mine, in which case the broker said I can just let it expire. Expired plate is still on the bike :)
