Any link to where you got it from? I'll be needing one soon.

Making for slower rpm drop and slower acceleration, because the turbo has to start from a stall. The guys who have the BOV sound on a NA car, probably have a kit I have seen on the internet. It's a speaker with a controller hooked to the clutch and every time you shift it makes the pssssshhhht sound. I lmao when I saw it.

lol @ phenomenon

not laughing at you, just who ever wrote the article on wiki.

If you are running more than 5PSI and actually wants a BOV that works properly and doesn't leak like an SOB, then you want Tial. Synapse is a piss poor company that tries to use highly misleading advertising to sell their product.

If you are just in it for the ricer effect, get which ever one sounds the best to you.

Blitz sounds pretty good.. but the ssqv is growing on me.. haha oh NO.. the ricer is coming out hahaha

kent stacey 06-14-2009 08:23 AM

tial or fail

Levitron 06-14-2009 11:53 PM

If you hate the chirp on the SSQV, you can just get rid of the "fins" that it comes with and the sound pretty much goes away. Those fins are just plastic.

achiam 06-15-2009 04:43 PM

I had several friends with Blitz BOV's nearly 10 years ago. We found that if you unscrew the horn part of the BOV and remove the fine metal mesh, the BOV sound is much louder and pressure release quicker. Not sure what the function of the metal mesh was, but nobody's engine went nuts or anything.

I actually have another insert fin for my SSQV, it just makes the "PSSSHHHHHH" sound. :D

Dentz 06-16-2009 03:29 PM

TurboXS RFL's are another option, just be sure to locktite the lower screws. They're a relatively "conservative" sounding BOV, but they're REALLY loud.

What's the difference in the fins? Did you try both?

The gold is just like the stock fin. The purple makes a much lower wooossh sound. It sounds really weird and very quiet (on my mr2).

They sound different on different cars, and also depending on where it is mounted. I had the SSQV with the stock fin on my MKIV Supra and it was way too short and high pitched. It got really annoying, sounded like a bird chirping. With the purple fin it sounds very good now... and it's quite loud!

Here's a site with some sound clips

Levitron 07-14-2009 09:01 PM

Ahh....mine came just with the silver one. Looks like you have to pay extra for a "kit" of the purple and gold fins, of which the purple is supposed to emit a "lower frequency" sound compared to the other two.

iPee 07-18-2009 01:18 PM

gotta love the greddy type S
that piercing sound is sweet haha

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IPOEjAnQIlI

could get annoying though

I have a type RS its alright

jing 07-22-2009 10:22 PM

Take the insert out for the SSQV!

reza 07-22-2009 10:58 PM

took the fin out of my ssqv and it sounded really gay. sounds like a puuuufffff rather than a loud gush of air that you get with other bovs, so i put the fin back in. what i like about the hks is that i can control the freq&volume of the sound. if i want a gush of air at low boost or super high pitch loud chidori at high boost and everything in between.

TurboRX7 08-06-2009 06:24 PM

My favourite for a while was the apexi twin chamber bov.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RmUHioqgI6E

I went to get one for my rx7 and they're discontinued. So I got there newest bov the apexi spec ii. Hopefully it's good and sounds similar to the twin chamber.

Mephology 08-08-2009 11:18 AM

50 mm tial ftw.

mtnickel 08-11-2009 10:57 PM

I taped 4 soccer whistles to the outlet of my 1g BOV and it makes a sweeeeet squeal/whistle sound. Everyone can hear it a mile away. it's soo totally awesome.

That is why I run a proper by-pass on a reciprocating system, more power, better response easier to tune the ECU.

stock 1G DSM for best value. Greddy Type-R(rs) for all around good value and performance. SSQ for puresex sounds.

I am running a modded stock 1g bov ...Nothing exiting for sound but its tested to 45 psi ....and still opens in a flash.
And the price is cheap, cheap, cheap.

eighty8design 11-17-2009 08:47 AM

Dont get a BOV for just sound..BOV is for adding power.. personally synchronic is my favourite because it is the has the best response to manifold pressure and comes to use right when you hit that throttle where other conventional BOVs take a second or two to respond!!
