Making for slower rpm drop and slower acceleration, because the turbo has to start from a stall. The guys who have the BOV sound on a NA car, probably have a kit I have seen on the internet. It's a speaker with a controller hooked to the clutch and every time you shift it makes the pssssshhhht sound. I lmao when I saw it.

If you are running more than 5PSI and actually wants a BOV that works properly and doesn't leak like an SOB, then you want Tial. Synapse is a piss poor company that tries to use highly misleading advertising to sell their product.

If you are just in it for the ricer effect, get which ever one sounds the best to you.

If you hate the chirp on the SSQV, you can just get rid of the "fins" that it comes with and the sound pretty much goes away. Those fins are just plastic.

I had several friends with Blitz BOV's nearly 10 years ago. We found that if you unscrew the horn part of the BOV and remove the fine metal mesh, the BOV sound is much louder and pressure release quicker. Not sure what the function of the metal mesh was, but nobody's engine went nuts or anything.

I actually have another insert fin for my SSQV, it just makes the "PSSSHHHHHH" sound.

TurboXS RFL's are another option, just be sure to locktite the lower screws. They're a relatively "conservative" sounding BOV, but they're REALLY loud.

What's the difference in the fins? Did you try both?

The gold is just like the stock fin. The purple makes a much lower wooossh sound. It sounds really weird and very quiet (on my mr2).

They sound different on different cars, and also depending on where it is mounted. I had the SSQV with the stock fin on my MKIV Supra and it was way too short and high pitched. It got really annoying, sounded like a bird chirping. With the purple fin it sounds very good now... and it's quite loud!

Here's a site with some sound clips

Ahh....mine came just with the silver one. Looks like you have to pay extra for a "kit" of the purple and gold fins, of which the purple is supposed to emit a "lower frequency" sound compared to the other two.

took the fin out of my ssqv and it sounded really gay. sounds like a puuuufffff rather than a loud gush of air that you get with other bovs, so i put the fin back in. what i like about the hks is that i can control the freq&volume of the sound. if i want a gush of air at low boost or super high pitch loud chidori at high boost and everything in between.

My favourite for a while was the apexi twin chamber bov.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RmUHioqgI6E

I went to get one for my rx7 and they're discontinued. So I got there newest bov the apexi spec ii. Hopefully it's good and sounds similar to the twin chamber.

That is why I run a proper by-pass on a reciprocating system, more power, better response easier to tune the ECU.

Dont get a BOV for just sound..BOV is for adding power.. personally synchronic is my favourite because it is the has the best response to manifold pressure and comes to use right when you hit that throttle where other conventional BOVs take a second or two to respond!!
