I quit my job- what about my salary?

So I quit my job at T&T Supermarket Osaka store (Yaohan) because I'll be returning to school and I lost interest working there (worked as a slave for $8 bucks an hour). Now I have returned all my employment stuff and signed the termination form. What about my last weeks pay?? I asked my supervisior, she said it would be deposited to my bank account as usual. I don't know, I'm really worried that she might be lying. What if it's pay time and I still don't get my pay?

:lol are you serious ? why are you so worried that they won't pay you ? because you quit ? its against the law not to pay out final pay unless you're some shady under the table cash company. If they dont pay you, take them to court, simple as that

its T&T... owned by chinese people.... hahah

anything can happen!

t&t is a big company.. they will pay..

you should post this thread if they haven't paid you after the final week..

winson604 12-18-2008 03:01 PM

Yea don't worry about it. Anytime you leave a job even if you were fired they still have to pay you what they owe you + all vacation hours you have banked.

alex.w *// 12-18-2008 07:36 PM

yup they will pay you if you are in direct deposit, and also ask for your record of employment, it comes along with your vacation pay

These people don't know what they are talking about. You should go to the nearest police station and tell them the whole situation. They should be able to handle it from there. Or better yet, ask them to accompany you while you go back and speak to that supervisor (that lying bitch).

Also, don't forget that they also owe you accrued vacation pay as well.

What's a vacation pay? I don't think that exists in T&T

Umm. Before you make such asinine comments you should do some research, since you clearly have no idea what you're talking about yourself.

This is the legislation that is applicable:

http://www.qp.gov.bc.ca/statreg/stat....htm#section18

Regardless of the timeframe, I don't think you have anything to worry about regarding not receiving your final payment.

keep it clean ppl. too much bickering and i will close the thread.

OP: you will be paid, don't worry. when was your last payday? if you quit, they can wait till the next pay cycle to pay you. so say you got paid last friday, you'd have to wait till next friday to get paid.

also as far as vacation pay is concerned, if they don't give you vacation time, or you are P/T, they can pay you 2% in lieu if vacation, plus an extra 1% for every week of vacation you get over 2 weeks, as well as 2% in lieu of benefits if you didn't receive them. so in total you will probably receive pay for what ever hours you worked since the last pay period, as well as a % in lieu of vacation and benefits.

this is how the majority of companies work, some may have a slightly different way of doing it, so this wont necessarily apply to everyone.

in accordance with the BC labour code, your employer has 6 days to pay you after the day you quit. If you were fired it's 24 hours or something like that.

your employer already began stealing from you as soon as you started working for $8/hr
