Solitary cubicle jobs?

I'm looking to work in a desk job where I just do my thing and not talk to customers. I get along well with employees, but I don't like dealing with customers and their problems...so that kind of rules out any support positions.

What is the quickest way through school to get a job like this, and what kind of jobs would these be?

try committing a crime, you get all the solitary cubicle you need!

Go and get ultra advanced degrees in statistics or math.
I met one banker here in London from China who had a PhD in Computational Econometrics from Cambridge. He was hired by Barclays Capital, and his job is to write algorithms all day long that expire as soon as certain variables change through the day. He sits in a windowless room in the middle of the bank and makes them so much money from trading that they allow him to play World of Warcraft at work.

Drafting. 10 month program at VCC. I started with a $18/hr job. Well the place I started at just had desks. But now I have a cubicle. And people never bother me. Infact, the my supervisor never bothers me either, in terms of giving me something to do.

Drafting is a decent solo job. My dad was a drafter at BC Hydro for 25 years. He doesn't speak good English, but drafting has it's own language, so he got by. Now, my sister is at BC Hydro doing the same thing as my dad.

agreed... you don't even really need education for this and over time you might move up... into more data entry positions

Thirding this. Although it depends on the size of the company. When I was at a company with hundreds of people, I went weeks without any interaction with others other than check prints being placed on my desk or me handing them back. Instructions came via e-mail because my boss wasn't even on the same floor as me.

But when I was in a small company, it was constant communication. I didn't actually mind it, but it sounds like the opposite of what the OP wants.
