I think if it's a sedan you don't need 91,

and if you think about it. a full tank of gas costs liek what $6 more with premium? don't be cheap.

and with reduced performance, comes the heavier foot, comes crappier fuel milage.

Modern day cars have knock sensors, which will retard the timing when it detects knock, reducing some performance. Older cars without electronic systems you'd have to rely on hearing your car ping.

I've ran regular in my VQ once in the summer without issues..your cars are queens. I'm amazed how sensitive everyone else's car is when running regular.

Unless your car is tuned, you should be running the lowest grade octane your car can handle without knocking, meaning follow your damn owner's manual.

anything lower than 92 CEL will come on. and then your gonna havta bring it to infinti for a octane boosting crap... and its gonna cost him..

i used to have a buddy who put 94 octane in his 93 civic, it was a coupe

premium dude, probably only couple of $ more vs regular.
what gas did the previous owner put in?
if its regular for 100k km, putting premium now might not help that much.

Could using 94 octane now reverse the problem? I' bought a used 07 civic si from surrey honda, and I don't know which gas the previous owner used, My car does make a ticking sound, so I think the previous owner was using 87 or 89.

You would be surprised how many people will put 87 in cars that obviously require higher octane.

it mostly depends on driving styles, if the guy drives it around town like a granny, not on the accelerator too much, just putting around, then ya he wont notice a thing. but with a exhaust note so sexy, how could one just putt around town in a G35? but always, follow what has been written in the owners manual, that shit has been written there for a reason.

If he's really that cheap, then tell him to go to Mohawk/Husky. You get 90 octane for the price of regular... still not what he should put in, but better than 87.

When I worked at Richmond Automall, I noticed the lot boys from Infiniti always put regular gas in their cars.

lol why does it matter if its a sedan or coupe. Both have same engines and same fuel requirements. Dont cheap out, use the recommended fuel

Because they're loaners. They don't really care what they put in them. I'm sure most dealerships do that.

I bet the dealership tells them to fill regular to save money.
