WTB: Mac Laptop Hi, I'm looking for a Mac laptop for one and one purpose only... to create iPhone and iPod Touch applications. That's all I'm going to use it for. The last time I used a mac was in elementary school probably for all the write type or something but I remember using some old school Macintosh machines. I don't feel like spending around two grand on a brand new Mac computer that I will be using for one thing so perhaps someone has one out there that doesn't need/want and is willing to give up for a reasonable/cheap price. The laptop just needs to have Mac OS X v10.5.5, wireless internet connection, AC adapter and to be in decent condition. (no sticky keyboards please) Let me know Thanks Mike |
So I'm thinking iBook G4 or first gen MacBook. Let me know what you ladies and gents have. bump. TTT |
If you're just looking for a cheap mac, you could always pick up a mac mini, they are like 600-700. Or the non pro macbooks are around 1100. |
been looking around craigslist and ebay iBook $200-400 MacBook $400-600 used of course. I'll most likely buy one from ebay but I would like to buy locally before I do nationally. Most of them have OSX 10.4 though. Am I able to upgrade 10.5.5 using Software Update on the Mac for free? Or would I have to purchase a new operation system? |
if you're just toying with the idea of developing on the iphone sdk, then don't bother at all but if you're serious about this commitment, then i suggest you make a reasonable investment into a 20" mac which will run you about $1000 refurbished (or less on craigslist) it's worth every penny |
i have a 15.2 powerbook 1.6ghz it has a broken lcd though but the body is like mint condition since i broke it like the 3rd month i got it. interested? |
