shaving wheel to increase offset..
 

is there a place in the greater vancouver area that would help me do this?


what is the price range?

I probably need about 3mm shaved off the back of the wheel.

Do you guys think its a good idea? any risks? cons?

Can't add a 3mm spacer?

i wan to decrease the offset..not add to the offsetr!

talk to ken @ advance, he has to take a look at ur wheels to see if they are doable. some wheels are, some arent, forgot what he will look for.

i remember him doing a set of HRE's for a beamer. set was meant for a 5 series, but he made them fit a 3 series.

probably not a suspension issue but a wheel to fender clearance issue. just need to check if there is enough back pad to shave and usually 3mm is the most u can take out. roughly 25-30ea to do.

Typically this will not work, as you will be machining down the surface that the lug nut actually holds. If you take enough off the wheel will have nothing let for the lug to hold or it will be paper thin.

It depends on the wheel.

you cant do much, but 3-5mm is probably all u can shave off the back wheel hub for safety reasons.

well, ppl do wonders to make rims fit, or look the way they want them to.

roll fenders, pull fenders, cut fenders, add spacers, kick out camber, stretch tires...

I've actually had this done on a friends car. I took it to 'wheel fix it' out in surrey and shaved off 4 mm's. It was 50 bucks for 2 wheels.

better take it to green's get them cnc shaved

I don't know why you choose to be ghetto but you are taking a big risk.

LOL.. adding spacer is decreasing offset.. its pushing the wheel out...
but i understanding youre doing it for other reasons.
i wouldnt, though. get wheels that fit.

This is totally safe , what people are not realizing , is that wheel manufacturers do this themselves, they cast a wheel in one offset then they machine it to a few differnt offsets. Usually you can take up to 5mm , sometimes 8mm but if you want 8mm you need to have a steel insert pressed in , talk to Charlie at Wheel Fix It , he has done many sets for me , 604-599-4455

ya y not just kick out ur camber?

Wow what a difficult route to take for 3 mm. What car/wheels are you trying to run? Hit up a dub shop and have them do a slight roll/pull for you and you'll be fine. Or, run some tighter fitting rubber. Don't go an mangle your wheels!

better off just buying rims that fit your car. Less headache in the future
