Everyone has their own preference, I can see a flame war starting :P

hotjoint 12-31-2008 07:46 AM

jap cars but if I had money to blow then euro

achiam 12-31-2008 08:10 AM

Depends on the money scenario. Starting out, I'd probably just buy something Japanese as it makes sense financially - lower fuel consumption, not flashy etc.
But when I've "made it" when I'm in my 60s, I don't think buying an Acura or Lexus full sized sedan would prove to all my acquaintances that I've "made it" in a sea of European cars.

Choice #1 - Japanese
Choice #2 - European
Choice #3 - Korean
Choice #4 - China
Choice #5 - American

hung_low 12-31-2008 08:17 AM

why bother including american cars in the favourite list

I always thought that the differentiation between USDM and JDM was the intended market of the vehicle or vehicle parts, not the manufacturer. For example, you can have a USDM Honda Civic and a JDM Honda Civic. Am I wrong?

You mentioned the money scenario...some of the American cars have lower consumption than their Japanese counterparts (i.e. the 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid has much better consumption than the Toyota Camry Hybrid)...and I'm eagerly awaiting the Chevy Volt to put these consumption haters to rest...now if you are talking about lifetime maintanence costs...I'd agree with you.

Korean and Chinese over American? You should have thrown in Tata....please...you would prefer to drive a Kia or Hyundai over a Caddy? Corvette? G8? Sierra? Come on....and the Chinese auto companies - that's a whole other story.

Anyways, I drive Japanese so for now Japanese > American (in certain aspects).

shiningb3b3 12-31-2008 09:32 AM

i drive a japanese, so of course I prefer jap cars

besides, my entire family drives jap-made cars, except for my dad

there MUST be somethin' good about jap made cars if the majority of cars we see on the roads in vancity now are...jap cars.

El Bastardo 12-31-2008 09:32 AM

I would say more than 95% of automobiles in this planet come from those three locations, so that's not really saying much

Lol by that i mean, the OP's original question was whether we like American, European or Japanese cars. The way i read it, i should choose one, in fact i like them all is what i wanted to say. I mean you get cool cars from all three.

volcom 12-31-2008 11:19 AM

I prefer European car. But for now it's out of my budget...So I'll stick with Japanese car

I'm looking to purchase Subaru Impreza just the 2.5i Sports though....I have no money for WRX or STi

PavelGTR 12-31-2008 11:58 AM

European

shenmecar 12-31-2008 12:00 PM

Japanese cuz parts are cheappppppppppppppp

Timpo 12-31-2008 12:14 PM

same as typical people

Japanese cars for sure, best bang for buck.
If I become rich, European. :D

!LittleDragon 12-31-2008 01:57 PM

No preference... I buy whatever appeals to me. I like my MR2 which is of course Japanese but I want a bigger sedan now so I'm going with the CTS.

JSALES 12-31-2008 03:02 PM

Japanese Cars because parts are cheaper
European if i were rich
and i'd go for American for the muscle cars!

mas604 12-31-2008 06:18 PM

Japanese because their generally more reliable but if iI were rich i'd go for Italian exotic. I don't get why people say "European if i were rich" not all euros are expensive...arent vw euro? audi? theirs expensive Japanese too and American.

orange7 12-31-2008 06:36 PM

My dream car: Mclauren SLR

Euro FTW if i become a billionair

toyota86 12-31-2008 06:43 PM

pre-2000 japanese or pre-bangle german

hk20000 12-31-2008 10:31 PM

^ bangle only applies to BMW.

Euro. Tried my hands on enough Japanese....they lack heritage. Japanese cars are fun when modded to the tits though. US if it's a rental or a big ass truck.

some_punk 12-31-2008 11:03 PM

american muscle all the way. And most of revscene is american hating cause those are the ones that know jack shit about cars.

Y2K_o__o 01-01-2009 11:57 AM

My ideal case would be owning an euro + jap car

European Car: If I were Rich
Japanese Car: Huge Aftermarket Support ( specifically ~ Honda)

Kalize 01-01-2009 12:26 PM

Euros first Japs second.

You people are fucking retarded.

Most Toyota's are built in... you guessed it, North America! The first brand with a California design studio? Toyota.

Meanwhile, Cadillac's CTS was developed overseas. The Pontiac G8 was an Australian developed car.

And every single brand on the face of the planet is going to the same global parts suppliers for the parts that make the biggest impacts on the driving experience: the electronics. The quality of the interiors is determined more by the switch, door panel, and fabric suppliers than the "manufacturer."

Start thinking globally. The days of classifying cars by their brand's country of origin are long gone.
