learn to read. hes got a model kit, he needs the tools to build it

Jobo 01-02-2009 08:10 PM

well, sorry there big guy.

when he said "building kits" i was assuming it was buying another model just so he could use the tools from that one.

You need TOOLS to build one? An Xacto knife is all you need, maybe a screwdriver if it's one of those crazy ones.

Welcome to the world of Gunpla. :p

Depending on how serious you are about it, or continuing with it you can get supplies from a number of places.

Sakura media I noticed started reccently importing gunze sanyo paints, and they started to collect tools too. I wouldnt buy their overpriced "machïnery" tools though

scheng924 01-02-2009 11:11 PM

i would buy the paint but not the tools.. exacto knife and being careful works fine

lol i built a krazy Wing Zero model and was moving the TV one time... it fell and broke to bits that fell down the heater hole in my house lol.

I'm assuming he has a Perfect Grade... :) I have yet to complete my MSZ-006 Zeta Gundam.... All you need is an Xacto knife, side cutters. I prefer the modelling ones cause they have a nice flat edge on one side, screw driver (PG) and batteries (PG and some MG kits). If you are truly serious, I'd primer up all the pieces then spray all the pieces in the corresponding paint codes. Then marker up most of the parts with gundam markers. :) I recommend starting out on an MG kit before working on the PG kit (if that's what you have).

As for shops, you can just roam around Crystal Mall and most malls around Richmond to get all your modeling supplies.

pfft this is what i use, nail clipper, exacto, putty, glue, phillips head screwdriver, thiner, paints, air bursh

highlander 01-03-2009 03:57 AM

that is what i used to use too... but this one is different my friend gave me a 1/144 rx-78gp03 the big freaking armory one that is 3 feet long(after built)

So this time i am trying to use the proper tools to build it dont wanna fuck it up cuz that thing meant a lot to me ^^

I try going sakura media but they not really helpful cuz when i asking them just lil tips and question abt building it the sales person doesnt seem to know what i am talking abt thats why i am trying to look for something like a specialty store

+Kardboard+ 01-03-2009 11:08 AM

Ages 3+ at metrotown has a bunch of models. Also might want to try Comic Land at Rupert and 22nd. They have a large selection.

Grandmaster TSE 01-03-2009 12:00 PM

i have a flat file and a cutter and thats it to make my gundams
i make the 1/100 ones

aznrsx1979 01-03-2009 12:58 PM

most art stores and miniture model making stores should have all the tools you need. places like deserres or opus should have the tools, also there used to be a model making store near the douglas college in new west. i used to go there when i needed tools or supplies to make models in college.
