Best racing games for PSP?? Hey all...just thought this might be an interesting thread on RS's nerd forum ;) My absolute favourite is Midnight Club 3: Dub Edition...hate the loading times, but aside from that, it's insane how much you can mod your cars, love the 3 city setup and the way you play through the game. My close second is Midnight Club: LA Remix. Way faster load times are awesome, just wish there were more cars/more body mods available. Also, being limited to one city for most of the game gets a little boring and I'm not a HUGE fan of the way the game is structured (vs. MC3 DE). Still, amazing game and a ton of fun. #3: NFS Carbon...fun game, loads fast, some cool concepts for wingmen, etc...but a LOT less realistic than MC. I like that you can customize cars, but not even close to the degree of MC. #4: NFS Most Wanted...just bought it, haven't played it yet lol Your turn. |
when i had a psp, i liked playing initial d. |
sold my PSP ages ago. But when i had it, i had fun playing ridge racer. Don't remember too much about it thogh, as it's been way too long since i played it. But i recall that game had a great sense of speed, very exciting |
Is the Initial D game a Japanese-only release? is Ridge Racer realistic? real cars? can you customize the cars? |
as far as i know ID is japanese only.. at least i haven't come across any english ones. the one i have is in japanese. |
Ridge Racer has imaginary cars, no customizing but its a shitload of fun, madddd drifting around corners. |
I love the Burnout series |

I'm REALLY not enjoying NFS after playing MC and want something new... |
Ridge Racer is a treat for the eyes and the ears, and the arcade-style drifting is very easy to learn, but hard to master. Wipeout Pure, and its sequel Wipeout Pulse, are both solid futuristic racing games but I take it you're not too keen on that genre. Wipeout Pulse has a very deep campaign mode. The Burnout series is awesome, if only because of the fact that no greater joy comes from eliminating your opponents by crashing them into oncoming traffic/pillars/walls/whatever's on the road. Once again very arcadey controls. |
I just bought Test Drive (Unlimited? I think...the one that's in Hawaii)...it's okay...very Need For Speed-esque...kinda fun, but nothing like Midnight Club. |

^I think I had an english version of Initial D..... from HK? lol.. but i spent so much time on that its not even funny... i wish u could play online initial D.. that would be pwnage haha |
i'm surprised Gran Turismo never got ported to the PSP. |
Due to the lack of racing games on the PSP, I am considering modding my PSP to play Gran turismo 2 (the best in the series IMO). Can anyone comment on the quality of PS emulators and especially if anyone is running GT on their psp Initial D was the only game I played on the PSP- alright but I prefer realistic Sims |
hmm....I'd be interested in that too... I bought Ridge Racer a couple of days ago and while it is fun...it's no Midnight Club or Gran Turismo... |
Ok, well worth it. Gran Turismo 2 runs flawlessly. Screw initial D, ridge racer, club etc.. Driving my mugen dc2 again |

and how bad are the load times? |
Load times are minimal, and well worth it. C'mon guys, need I remind you how great the catalogue was for the PS1? Gran Turismo > Any PSP racing game out there. FF7, FF8, MGS, GT, GT2, etc.. *only downside, are most PS roms are around 1 gig for the above games.* |
