Spoiler!

great article?

check out the last page, GT2 is better than GTR is every aspect, you really think porsche is like what Macro911 said it can do better than what it is?

I am disappointed that they don't show up with a 997 Turbo and have a real timing.

trdees 01-06-2009 08:42 PM

wow no one posted in this thread..... gtr fanboys scared off LOL

trdees 01-08-2009 06:43 AM

*waiting for timpo to defend the gtr*

I am no GTR fanboy, the GT2 is a far superior car...however there are numerous Road & Track and Car & Driver articles where the GTR walks on a 997 Turbo and a GT2. This is one article in Porsche's favour. However, you gotta admit, the GTR is a car one generation ahead of everyone else because of it's awd system & dual clutch tranny. I would love to a see a test between the new 997 Turbo with their new awd system and dual clutch tranny....I am pretty sure the Porsche will come out ahead. However a true comparison would be the GT2 Vs GTR Spec V

Who cares. The GT2 is a better car because of the quality of the materials and the feel of the vehicle alone.

If the only thing that mattered was speed, every car would take a backseat to that Top Gear Buggy piece of shit.

Taking everything into account, the GTR is a piece of shit.

^by that same logic, a plain jane 911 is a better car than a ZR1

Exceedingly well written and presented.

Sorry, but to me all this does is show that the GT2 is faster. Great. Who cares?

When you look at how little the difference is in time around the ring, and look at it from price vs. value the GTR clearly takes the cake. No one can, or will convince me otherwise.

GT2 MSRP $191,700
GTR MSRP $76,840

GT2 Ring Time 7:49
GTR *suggested* Ring Time 7:55.9

On a track that is 20.81 kms long, the 6.9 second difference makes out to be .332 seconds per KM. Sorry, but to me... that is too small of a margin to rely on especially when human error has not been factored in.

But hey, if you want to believe the GT2 is a better all around car go for it.

If you bought a GT2 you would be paying $16,646.38 per extra second you can go faster around the ring.

That's a real bargain of you ask me.. :joy or not.

It all depends on what you want but I would say so. Faster is great but it's not the end point when defining a car. HP and 0-60 times are for people to flex their cock.
