MSI S430 vs LG X110 Some Key points are MSI S430: 14" 332(L) X 229(D) X 32.5-33.5(H)mm 2.2KG AMD athlon 1.9GHZ Dual core Geforce 6100 TV tuner LG X110 Intel® Atom Processor N270, 1.6GHz 10" Intel® GMA 950 (Graphic) 261.8(L) x 180(D) x 31(H) mm 1.2KG Webcam QUADBAND GSM/GPRS/EDGE Both go for same price of near 430$ Performance wise, the s430 is better but i the weight, design, size of the x110 is giving me a hard time. Weight is a big factor. 1.2kg vs 2.2kg, looking at it serparetly their both pretty light, but the s430 is almost double the weight of x110. I used to carry my g2s-a1 (5kg) to sfu and that thing was deadly. with one textbook, carrying the bag made me sweat all the time. Also 14" vs 10" Im buying the laptop for school, but i also wanna enjoy some games such as dota, combat arms and i dont know if the x110 will be able to run it?? (key question) and if anyone has some pictures for s430 link or post please. i couldnt find a lot of exterior pics. |
The LG X110 will definitely be able to run WC3/DOTA, but will lag (I found the lag on my AAO to be game breaking.. SC worked perfectly fine though). I recommend the MSI if it's that important. |
omg perfect thread. my friend got me into looking at the LG X110. i'm now very very very tempted to get one. one thing kinda annoys me is the LG X110 has a small 3cell batt which and no expansion slots for ram upgrades. other than that, the LG X110 looks way better than any other netbooks out there, and i'm really tempted to get one. oh and also just FYI, the canadian spec LG X110 doesnt get the sim card slot, so no 3G,GSM, EDGE shit. |
^dam....... i was looking forward to the quadband feature.. T.T that significantly reduces X110s feature. Its basically aspire one with a better design... T.T |
I was looking at LG X110 recently, the GPRS feature is the selling point, but think about it again. You need to insert a sim card (mostly pull out from your phone) and its speed is incrediblely slow as the sales told me about it. Unless you are an mobile internet freak, otherwise it is gonna be quite useless. There are many choices out there...Benq, samsung, asus, olevia, Nec, MSI, Acer, Lenovo I personally like Asus 901 a lot, Olevia has the best value, Lenovo looks great in person, MSI has the touch screen and rotatable. To answer your question quickly, yes, most nettop will run games in lower resolution, I have CC3 in my Asus 701, acceptable! |
Why not just tether over bluetooth anyway? That gets most of the functionality I need anyhow and I'm capped with how much data I push. |
lg x110 has bluetooth. no 3g. so you can tether and have internet. 1gb ram, not upgradable. the webcam is the sharpest of all the netbooks i had (lg x110, aao, msi wind u100). 3 cell battery lasts 1.5hours in xp in medium brightness, normal web surfing. i suggest msi wind u100. its selling for 449.99 at staples. you may get it cheaper with a $20 coupon. you may even get it 10% cheaper if you are a teacher (teacher appreciation week). it is faster than other netbooks, can overclock +24%, and can upgrade to 2gb of ram. it'll play dota better than other netbooks. |
