SDXC Cards Announced: 2 Freakin' TB SD Cards! http://www.liliputing.com/2009/01/sd...f-storage.html http://img56.imageshack.us/img56/9987/sdxczg8.jpg SDHCs are officially obsolete hahahaha Quote:

The standard provides SUPPORT for up to 2TB, but not like they're going to be able to MAKE 2TB SD cards anytime in the near future... |
that would make even the current SSD drives obsolete.... LOL |
So? Same thing as SDHC. 4GB cards come out first, and now we have 32GB ones. Now I also feel silly for buying a 128GB SSD hahaha :lol |
oh i love technology the word up to haha i wonder how long it will take them to do that |
buying SSD now is silly especially when you can tell the price will come down to a point thats cheaper then current HDD by looking at the the history of flash drives. |
Yeah, bought that new RunCore one for my HP Mini. Price is...OK. It's quick, so decent value. :) Now I wonder if SDXC support can be added to regular SD slots like SDHC support has been added? My DSLR went from vanilla SD to SDHC with a firmware upgrade. |

A year and a half? |

Damn, I didnt know you can add firmware for SDHC to SD haha. If they only had that for all my $5 card readers |
Hmm, maybe. But who knows? And what were SD cards at when SDHC was announced? 1GB? Then again 32GB cards now aren't really viable; way too expensive. |

:lol |
what's the transfer speed of this thing? I would be pissed if it stucks at 10, 20mb/s |
300MB/s from i've read.... |

OK, I'm slightly optimistic. :lol |
32 -> 64 -> 128 -> 256 -> 512 -> 1024 I'd say about 3 years. |

I mean, the rate of hard drive capacity increases has slowed down dramatically in the last few years, nowhere near double. My guess would be that the increase of capacities of SD cards will slow down way before it ever reaches 1TB. |
I mean, 1TB hard drives only came out late 2007. How long was that after 16GB hard drives came out? That was back around 1997, so it took about ten years to go from 16GB to 1TB. There's no reason to think that SD cards wouldn't take just as long or longer... |
is this 2TB supposed to fit in the same form factor as normal SD? because that would take some crazy gypsy magic to make happen. the standard may SUPPORT 2TB, but they probably won't come close to that anytime soon. Anyone can announce a format with support of 100000000TB, that doesnt mean they're anywhere near making cards that can do it yet tho. |
That's what they said about 1GB cards back in the day. Now, if they cram 2TB on to an microSDXC card, then that'll really take some black voodoo. :p |
