Importing USED Wheels from the States Im going to be importing some wheels mounted on new tires from the States. They're 18" Volks - 5 years old with 2 small curb marks on them so you know theyre used. The guy at the shop said that he can make the receipt to whatever amount I want. What value should I declare to make it sound reasonable? |
Good luck claiming them if anything goes wrong. |
Like the above poster said, claim them at amount you are willing to loose. If you don't care claim them at $500 but you'll only get $500 if they are covered by insurance. Keep in mind depending on some shipping companies have restriction on used items when claiming insurance so maybe it doesn't even matter. |
I'm guessing you are referring to ICBC claims in case of an accident? |

Declare whatever you want. Keep in mind that Canada customs may take a dim view to a seriously submarket-value declaration. |
how much should 5 year old 18" volks cost anyway |
I bought a set of Work wheels 17" and declared them for $700. It was on brand new tires too. When I went through customs they're in the car out of the box but they didn't even take a look at them. |
ship them to blaine or pt. roberts. bring them over yourself. save on shipping and duty. |
