Importing USED Wheels from the States

Im going to be importing some wheels mounted on new tires from the States.

They're 18" Volks - 5 years old with 2 small curb marks on them so you know theyre used.

The guy at the shop said that he can make the receipt to whatever amount I want.
What value should I declare to make it sound reasonable?

Good luck claiming them if anything goes wrong.

Like the above poster said, claim them at amount you are willing to loose. If you don't care claim them at $500 but you'll only get $500 if they are covered by insurance.

Keep in mind depending on some shipping companies have restriction on used items when claiming insurance so maybe it doesn't even matter.

I'm guessing you are referring to ICBC claims in case of an accident?

courier claims, if they get lost or damaged in the shipping.

Declare whatever you want.

Keep in mind that Canada customs may take a dim view to a seriously submarket-value declaration.

how much should 5 year old 18" volks cost anyway

Rikaro 01-08-2009 02:32 PM

I bought a set of Work wheels 17" and declared them for $700. It was on brand new tires too. When I went through customs they're in the car out of the box but they didn't even take a look at them.
