El Bastardo 01-09-2009 12:07 AM

Go B.C.

Instead of Vancouver they want to make the whole province a No Fun Zone

RRxtar 01-09-2009 09:16 AM

Kelowna is the capitol of No Fun Zone with Wakefest taken off the list to add to Regatta, Thunderfest Hydroplanes, etc..

keifun 01-09-2009 10:43 AM

i saw a thing on the news a while ago about a group of women with some catchy name who goto every protest just for the sake of protesting. the one they were being filmed at, a couple of them didnt actually even know what the protest was about.

MyPresIzBlack 01-09-2009 02:56 PM

I was looking forward to the 09 one!!!!

LongDongSilver 01-09-2009 03:00 PM

Ahh last years was marred by logistical problems that they wouldn't be able to overcome by this year so i don't mind that much.

lol...you have nooooo idea how often that happens. At just about every protest I've ever reported on and asked participants what they were there for, there were people who had no fucking clue. And considering I usually only approach about 10 people (so I can get 2-3 intelligent responses) that's pretty bad.

I was thinking the same thing...I know a bunch of ppl who went and every one of them said the music was awesome, but the organization was horrific. Hopefully the organizers will get their act together for '10

lol totally...I was at this one where a bunch of First Nations groups were protesting in front of City Hall (not sure why they'd do it there, the legislature is down the road and education is a provincial matter, not municipal), for for more money for education.

I go up to this woman who worked at a school as a program coordinator/counsellor...

Me: "so what are you guys hoping to get?"
Woman: "more money"
Me: "what would you use the money for?"
Woman: "more programs"
Me: "what sort of programs are you needing?"
Woman: "uhh...I dunno. We just need more money for more programs."

There were representatives from some First Nations college up north, and I thought "hey...college students might be able to give me a good answer."

Me: "Can I talk to one of you guys about why you're here today?"
Whole bunch of them: "not me...not me...not me..." and they all told me to talk to the girl who organized their school's presence there...I go up to her.

"So why are you guys here today?"
"I dunno, 'cuz they told us we'd get a free bus trip down here if we took part in the protest" laughs and goes back to waving a sign.
