i play goalie on occassion. i play forward and goal so i alternate everytime. been playing for a while but never stuck with it as i like playing forward too
i have the reebok 4k set (pads glove and blocker) the pads are great but the glove and the blocker are starting to rip apart. i have a lowerend itech chest which i upgraded to a better eagle one but havent tried yet. in my experience, dont buy the lowerend stuff. you feel stingers from better shooters. i'd spend the extra money and buy mid level gear as it will give you more protection and should last longer. by all means im no expert just telling you from experience.

you can get a pads set (glove and blocker too) for maybe 600
chest would be around 200-250
mask- 250-300
skates - 200
pants - 150
stick - 90
jock - 50

so you're looking at a pretty penny. i usually upgrade one thing at a time. that being said if you buy from goalie monkey you save alot of money. i got a high end eagle chest protector and the 6k pants for only 244 after taxes. the chest alone was 450 originally

I'd love to be a goalie if I wasn't so near-sighted. They get all the free passes & ice time on pick ups

Yeah,....i wouldn't mind being a goaltender as well....but some groups that i play with have players that have broken masks with wristshots.

Screw thinking about what slapshots will do.

itech 960 & 961 masks($600 on ebay each but hey...its your head you're talking about here), rbk premier chest, pads, blocker, glove. dont buy low end trapper/blockers cause those slap shots will sting your palm. unless you're playing with totally newbies. this stuff is gonna cost you a ton, but all the leagues and drop in, i play free so it's totally worth it.

ps, if you want some rbk 5k. i'm selling mine. used for two seasons in roller. always had pad covers on so not much wear. the trapper smells good....blocker wreaks!! ahahha

cyclone taylors sells eagle ones. but they dont fit pads properly cause they're generic so you should bring your pad in and see how they fit.

if you want the itech nv7, its $350US on goaliedeals.com http://www.goaliedeals.com/itechmasks.html
but this coupon code "itech0319" will get you 20% off. coupon expires on march 25th.

Damn, that's a nice set of gear.

I recently purchased a used set off a really really friendly friend. Goalie is so interesting and challenging.. Still having a lot of trouble with angles, rebound, and staying in position.

Who's up for some stick and puck in richmond? Weekday morning/afternoons specifically..
