immediate help pls... so i changed my timing belt today, but i discovered my auto tensioner is fucked up so, my question is do i have to buy a new auto tensioner or buy the manual tensioner? by the way my car is 98 honda prelude...thanks guys |
98 prelude, go to honda, request for the 92-96 honda prelude SR H23a manual tensioner. the auto tensioner on the h22a vtec's are prone to failure |
how much do you think will it cost me for h23 tensioner vs. auto tensioner... |
you can easily reset the hydraulic tensioner. clamp the tensioner in a vise with the 10mm bolt facing up. Carefully unscrew the 10mm bolt. It is filled with a special fluid. Do not spill out. Use a small flat head screw driver, and insert into the hole. There is a screw inside. You will turn it clockwise, and the tensioner will retract. You will need a special bracket to hold the retracted tensioner. Re-install the 10mm bolt and make sure it does not leak. Bolt the tensioner back to the engine block, and re-use. |
i did and it is broken it doesnt retract back when i wind it up...and it has some play on the shaft inside... |
you can also take the manual tesioner from a f22 I recommend the manual tensioner , way better. |
