Car Cover, Yay or Nay? VSFW

wondering if its a good or a bad idea to use a car cover.

garage is in use, and only have the backyard to park.

some say its bad for the paint, and it not a good idea.

anyone used/using one?

Thanks.
VSFW means very safe for work. haha :D

how long are you storing it for?

if its for over 3 months, i advise you to use one, but sometimes a car cover can scratch the car's paint due to wind

hk20000 01-10-2009 11:26 PM

you need to find those better ones which the inside cloth is weaved like microfiber....

sexyaccord 01-11-2009 12:16 AM

don't really plan on storing it for a long time. i drive it a couple times a week.
will it screw up the paint? as in all the condensation/moisture built up etc?

alex.w *// 01-11-2009 12:23 AM

there shouldn't be moisture, just make sure the car is completely dry before you put the cover on

And clean, Id say putting it onto a DIRTY car will scratch your paint faster than anything else

your driving it a couple times a week?? then why would you want to cover it??

Covering a car creates moisture that can't escape creating rust and other problems. I would never cover a car outdoors especially in vancouver weather.

I wouldn't

I've seen some seriously fucked up cars from covers. Cars were designed to sit outside. Unless you own a Porsche or Ferrari, don't worry. And if you actually own an accord, then defiantly don't worry about it.

I use a car cover for my car, but only when i go out of town for work for extended periods of time. Always put a baking soda box in the car to capture odors and excess moisture. I haven't had any problems, just make sure the inside is good material like hk20000 said. If you are driving it 2x a week all that taking on and off might not be good for the paint. Also, if you are storing it, make sure to put a nice coat of wax to protect the paint from the cover.

get one only if you are ok with spending over 120$

cheap covers will scratch your paint and fak shit up...
trust me..

laureate 01-12-2009 07:45 PM

it really depends on what car you're planning to cover, and how much money you're willing to spend

racerman88 01-12-2009 08:53 PM

don't need a cover
