Double-din decks to recommend? I'm looking for a decent double-din deck for my new car, and I'm wondering what people have used or what brand they recommend. I don't need navigation, just DVD and ipod hookup, with video-out ports. Looking at a couple models: JVC KWAVX810 Pioneer AVH-P4000DVD Not super fancy, just functional and easy to use, with good sound. Any thoughts? Thanks |
What car's it for? I think they're all pretty good for DVD and ipod nowadays. iPhone would be a different story. Otherwise I've always favoured Kenwood for overall price/performance/value. Pioneer and Alpine are awesome also. I've tried a 2007 model Panasonic with their ipod module and it sucked. Most newer ipod ready decks nowadays should run on USB to control ipod. I find those are the ones that work the best. I'm not sure what others would work well, Clarion's ipod interface is pretty neat. I've never tried JVC's. And all I know of Panasonics from a year ago is they were lagging, might be a different story now. |
The JVC one is great! I have the big brother: KW-NX7000 and its awesome! The Pioneer 4000 is very dated looking. The interface is not very nice and the 'Tron' style background is straight out of the early 80's. Its only got two 2 volt pre-outs too. Yech... I never thought I would see the day when I would chose JVC over Pioneer but it has happened. Single din decks however, are a different story. |
The car is gonna be a Q45. I think the Pioneer is an older model, they were on sale over boxing day for $350 at Future Shop but I couldn't pick one up. I might just spring for the JVC, I like the removable faceplate idea... I have an Alpine single din right now in my gtr, 9885, it's really nice but i want a bigger display. Glad to hear about JVC, we'll see what I end up doing. |
Well, you could always come by my shop and take a look at the JVC KW-NX7000 in my show car. Its similar to the 810 'cept it has Navigation. |
Where's your shop man? I'm gonna be looking to install soon, I wouldn't mind checking that car :) |
